Prime Minister Modi chaired a review meeting on the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The NEP aims to reform India's education system based on recommendations from past education policies since independence. It introduces a new school curriculum structure from ages 3 to 18, early childhood education, universal access to school, and mother-tongue instruction in some cases. However, there are also challenges in implementing the NEP such as a lack of qualified teachers, different mediums of instruction exacerbating inequality, and the risk of students dropping out if undergraduate degrees increase to four years. The success of the NEP will depend on how well it is implemented at local levels.
