2. K HAN A CADEMY Recently our district has moved to a "Beyond the Textbook" philosophy. Teachers are encouraged to move away from the textbook and into more interactive, hands-on, engaging method of teaching. In doing so though this has left some parents and students who are used to using a textbook as guidance in learning their materials, that some are feeling a little lost and struggling with ideas on where to get materials that they can use to help their students understand the concept being studied. 3. Q WIKI I just have to say that Qwiki is awesome. It is a web 2.0 tool for doing research. It takes an ordinary search term that you might put in the Google search bar, but instead of getting text or just images you get a 1-5 minute digital experience in which the interface explains and gives history of your search term. I think as educators we need to let our students know about Qwiki . If they need to see an overview of a specific topic they can find it here. 4. T IME T OAST If you as a student or a teacher ever have or give an assignment to create a timeline then using TimeToast.com is one of the best. Use this site to create an "All about me" project or to present some historical event for history. You can create short time periods to very very long time periods. If you need a report on the major events that shaped United States history then TimeToast.com might be what you are looking for.

5. S OCRATIVE If you have always wanted to own a set of "Clicker" or SRS's (student response systems) but don't have the money, then using Socrative.com might be an alternative. 6. G OOGLE D OC R EVISION H ISTORY With Google Doc Revision History, you and your students can back track over periods of time and take a look at how your document unfolded.

7. J EOPARDY L ABS For years I have wanted to have a Jeopardy game that I could play with my students. I wasn't happy with the PowerPoint types, I have tried a few others online, but still wasn't satisfied. Then one day I came across Jeopardylabs. 8. M Y E BOOK Here is an awesome site that allows for the creating, writing, and publishing of a story that either you as a teacher or your students can write. 9. Y APPR I came across this site awhile back, but because I am a big Moodle fan, I haven't used it with my classes because I have all of my test already created. If I didn't have Moodle or just wanted to create a short quiz that could be linked in my blog or web page then Yappr is a great place to visit. Click here to read more about using Yappr.

10. S TUDY S TACK StudyStack.com is a site that allows teachers to create online study guides for your students. If your students wanted they can create their own study guides. I used this site to prepare for my Spanish AEPA exam. Once I started teaching Spanish I create a study stack for every section that I was teaching. Those students who struggled with vocabulary had another tool which they could use to practice parts of lesson given in class. StudyStack also takes these study guides and turns them into different methods of learning. The feedback I have gotten from students is positive.
