Melissa and Ashley, two 5th grade teachers, were awarded $10,000 to equip their classrooms with technology. They chose to purchase 10 Android tablets, one for each student, and an interactive whiteboard to share between their classrooms. Tablets allow students to access educational content anywhere and to create videos teaching lessons to their peers, helping to solidify their own learning. The interactive whiteboard engages students through its colorful, hands-on interface.

3. Take a look at what we chose to buy! -10.1" 4GB Android Internet Tablet -96” Eno Interactive Whiteboard Ashley and I thought it would be best to get equipment for each of our students. Having the same technology in our classrooms, we can help each other with lesson plans.

Say Ashley or I are teaching a lesson in the classroom, the child takes notes, seems to understand at that given moment but then goes home and forgets, with a tablet the teacher is able to record herself giving the lesson and the student can re-watch it!So, its like bringing the teacher home with them!

6. Tablets are lightweight! Children don't need to carry around a heavy textbook.

8. By using a podcast like program on the tablet, students can make videos of themselves teaching other kids in the class a lesson on math or science.

9. The lesson will be in a “kid friendly tone” and using “kid friendly words” to better explain.

10. If a student can teach others a lesson, that is when the teacher knows just how successful the student was in learning the material.
