Edited History: Ethics, Information Access and Tailored Knowledge A discussion with Katherine Becvar, Audra Eagle, Erika Montenegro and Camille Ray
Question 1: What is the role or responsibility of the library and librarians in presenting unsavory local history? Question 2: Is the library an appropriate place to show the documentary, photo or to have events centered around this issue?
III. Community Commons and Clearinghouse Additionally, we aim to provide a non-biased, neutral ground where parties on all sides of an issue can receive and distribute information, meet, engage in public discourse and reach consensus or compromise in making community decisions. Excerpts from the Alachua County Library District Long Range Facilities and Service Plan Accomplishments Report FY 2005-2006 Resources needed to support Community Commons and Clearinghouse: Staff The Library District will develop a diverse, well-informed staff that is knowledgeable about current issues and actively involved in community life. Staff will be alert to opportunities to include all segments of the community in library activities and events.

Excerpts from the Alachua County Library District Long Range Facilities and Service Plan Accomplishments Report FY 2005-2006 Resources needed to support Community Commons and Clearinghouse: Staff The Library District will develop a diverse, well-informed staff that is knowledgeable about current issues and actively involved in community life. Staff will be alert to opportunities to include all segments of the community in library activities and events.
