This document is a master's thesis that examines how developing schoolyards in Berlin can support education for sustainable development. It begins with an introduction that establishes the relevance of connecting the abstract concept of sustainability education to practical schoolyard projects. The methodology section describes how the research question was approached through a qualitative thematic analysis of literature. An extended literature review then explores education for sustainable development and schoolyard development. Finally, the discussion brings these concepts together by analyzing how schoolyard development can offer a holistic learning approach and foster ecological literacy, participation, and equal opportunities while considering basic framework conditions.
