FEATURES
BUILDING WELLNESS
Sick building syndrome (SBS) is used to
describe situations in which building
occupants experience acute health and
comfort effects that appear to be linked to
time spent in a building, but no specific illness
or cause can be identified. Used indoors
ecotio2® removes the VOC’s (Volatile Organic
Compounds) that cause SBS.
SELF CLEANING
Surfaces coated in ecotio2®
reduce absorption of dust and other
particles. The coating also works as a
water magnet, attracting water particles
when it rains, and allowing them to get
under any dirt or stains, washing it off.
This feature helps to keep buildings and
infrastructure looking as new for longer.
AIR PURIFYING
Our invisible ecotio2® coatings clean the
air by dismantling airborne pollutants in
daylight or under indoor fluorescent and
LED lighting. A layer of ecotio2® applied
to surface areas cleans the air of viruses,
bacteria, mould, fungus, mites, smoke,
odours, VOC’s, CFC’s, allergens,
and smog pollution.
ANTI FUNGAL & ANTI BACTERIAL
Fungi, including moulds and mildews,
can damage the surfaces of indoor and
outdoor structures. Many fungi also
produce allergens or toxins that harm
humans, animals and plants. ecotio2®
stops mould and mildew forming even
in situations where the surface does
not receive direct sunlight.
GRAFFITI RESISTANT
Ongoing problems with graffiti are unsightly
and can be expensive to clean. ecotio2®’s
two part system protects off-form concrete
structures and walls, enabling self cleaning.
Using common graffiti cleaning solutions
such as “Goof Off” and removing the initial
tag with a soft cloth and solvent wipe will
allow ecotio2® to continue to do it’s work.
UV PROTECTION
Australia and NZ have some of
the highest UV levels in the world.
ecotio2® is an excellent UV absorber
and protects painted surface from UV
harm. Independent tests in Japan and
accelerated weathering tests have shown
that ecotio2® can extend the life of
painted surfaces by up to three times.
DEODORISING
Bad or strong smelling odours can make our
environments unpleasant. An application of
ecotio2® to surfaces, which are exposed to daylight
or LED / fluorescent light, neutralises bad and
strong smelling odours. Unlike other products
which mask the odour, ecotio2® decompose the
offensive smelling odours, completely eliminating
them, thereby creating an odour free environment.

WHAT IS A
PHOTOCATALYST?
Photocatalysis describes a chemical reaction which
is accelerated by light. A photocatalyst is a substance
that causes this reaction without being involved itself.
A photocatalyst coating is a coating that contains
photocatalysts as ingredients.
A photocalyst coating is energised by the presence
of daylight & visible light. The excitation of the
photocatalyst causes a number of reactions at the
surface of the coating. This light stimulation of the
Photocatalyst transforms the coated surface so that it
has air purifying & self-cleaning functionality.
Our photocatalyst coatings are transparent and are
designed for a wide variety of everyday surfaces. The
active ingredient, titanium dioxide does not dissolve
in water and is a safe substance found in many types
of cosmetics and food additives. With a stable base
material and normal conditions, it’s effects last for a
long time.

5. / CRESCENT HEAD SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB
"This $2.2 million replacement for the Kempsey-
Crescent Head Surf Lifesaving Club was completed in
late 2015.
The new design features pipi shell toned glazed brick
walls and a unique matching glazed ceramic tile roof.
Neeson Murcutt Architects designed the outside
surfaces so that they would be durable in the marine
environment, and a solution was needed to avoid
grime and salt accumulation on the roof system with
minimal maintenance from the volunteers. “After
considering a number of different approaches to
solving this problem a photocatalyst coating proved
to be both the most effect and inexpensive solution,”
says Tamas Jones, the project architect. ‘It has a long
history of established science and could be applied
simply once the roof was complete.’
An ecotio2® photocatalyst functional coating was
applied to the roof tile surfaces creating a self-
cleaning roof. The oxidising power of the coating uses
daylight, dew and rain to continually break down
algae, mould and organic matter that can cause
unsightly stains.
The surf club received the 2016 AIA NSW Sulman
Medal for Public Architecture. According to the jury
“The execution and detailing is beautifully refined
and resolved, but still tough and robust to suit the
extreme, corrosive environment and the demands
of a 'club' client." The project was also featured in
Architecture Australia in 2016."
/ SELF-CLEANING & ANTI-FUNGAL – GLENORIE
An outdoor landscaped entertaining area at a
residential property, had a persistent problem - the
texture in the pavement surface always trapped dirt,
which over time would be colonised by mould and
then would turn to unsightly black algae stains.
This was uninviting and would require pressure
washer cleaning with water and chemicals. In a short
time the unsightly stains would re-appear again.
ecotio2® photocatalyst coating was applied to the
paver surface to transform the pavement surface to
be self-cleaning. Now this part of the home requires
minimal maintenance.
