The Department of Economics of the Novosibirsk State University was founded in 1967 by Dr. Abel G. Aganbegian. Specific feature of Novosibirsk school of economics is the deep studies of mathematical methods in economics based on the principles developed by Dr. Leonid V. Kantorovich, the Nobel prize-winner in economics (1975).
