Natural vegetation refers to plant communities that have grown naturally without human intervention and have not been disturbed for a long time. All plants and animals in an area are interdependent and form ecosystems. India has a variety of ecosystems called biomes defined by their vegetation and wildlife. Some of India's major vegetation types include tropical mangrove forests, rain forests, tropical deciduous forests, and tropical thorn forests. India is also rich in wildlife, with over 89,000 animal species including over 1,200 bird species and 2,500 fish species. Wildlife is classified in India as normal, critically endangered, endangered, vulnerable, rare, extinct, or endemic species. Protecting natural ecosystems is important for human survival.
