Electrochemical Technology:
In some special cases Electrochemical Treatment is supplemented with
Coagulating agents, Poly-Electrolytes, Oxidizing Chemicals, UV & Ozone
etc., to achieve better results.
It can also be used as a Primary & Tertiary Treatment in Conventional
Water & Wastewater Treatment Process & also as a pre-treatment to
Biological Process & RO etc., and for disinfection of water & wastewater.
Electrochemical Treatment: It is simple, economical & operator friendly
process and it is an alternative to most of the above mentioned
Conventional Treatment Systems in a single step or at the most in two
steps.
It is a unique process used to treat both Water, Wastewater/Sewage.
Electrochemical Technology: It uses AC or DC Power Supply, different
Types of Electrodes (Sacrificial & Non-Sacrificial) with different shapes
(Plate, Tubular etc.)
The following multiple reactions takes place in one Step Electrochemical
Process:

Advantages of Electrochemical Treatment over Biological Treatment: In
comparison to biological treatment Electrochemical process has less moving parts and less
unit operations. There is no need to maintain MLSS and pH. It is temperature independent
and starts and stop operation at will. It is toxicity tolerant and there is no need to
revive bacteria. Electrolysis generates less GHG (green house gas) and does not deplete
oxygen from atmosphere & water bodies. It does not cause stream/pond eutrophication
and has an odour free and noiseless operation.
