The document discusses evidence for Jesus' resurrection from the dead, beginning with the empty tomb on Easter morning. It notes that the tomb was found empty by women who encountered angels saying Jesus had risen, as was foretold. Several proofs of the empty tomb are discussed, including the intact burial cloths and Roman guards being bribed to spread a false story. The document argues this shows the disciples did not steal Jesus' body and provides evidence that he resurrected and appeared to his disciples for 40 days, establishing Christianity.
The resurrection of jesus is a prevarication (spoken against), a plethora (great number) of witnesses, a proven fact, a purpose to save us. a plea to live worthy, a pattern for us to follow, a power from God, a promise for us, to believe in, a pledge by our savior.

Written as a systematic history of Jesus birth death and resurrection. Luke's Gospel was written so that any reader can be certain of the facts of Jesus life. Luke shows the activity of the Holy Spirit preparing the way for the gospel.
Why was Calvary not enough? What if Jesus did not rise from the dead? What would that mean? Why was the physical resurrection of Jesus so necessary to prove something?

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

3. Why Was The Crucifixion Necessary?
2 Corithians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we
might become the righteousness of God.
4. Luke 24:1-8
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the
women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they
entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they
were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that
gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the
women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men
said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?
He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while
he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be
delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the
third day be raised again.' "Then they remembered his words.
Did Jesus Rise from Dead?
5.
6. Was the Tomb really Empty
on the First Easter? And..
what is the significance of
the EMPTY TOMB?
We will discuss these implications in
this lecture and side presentation.
8. Mark 16:3-7
and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone
away from the entrance of the tomb?”But when they
looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very
large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb,
they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting
on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be
alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the
Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not
here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell
his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into
Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "
9. The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ is the
most important event in history, providing
irrefutable evidence that Jesus is who He
claimed to be – the Son of God.
Why is the empty tomb so important to the Christian
faith?
10. Was the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth found
empty after his crucifixion? If not, then
Christianity is the greatest lie in history. The
apostle Paul says, “If Christ has not been
raised fro the dead then your faith is futile and
you are still in your sins” (1 Cor. 15:17). While
the historicity of the empty tomb does not by
itself prove the resurrection, it plays
an important role.
11. Is it possible that Jesus was
Resurrected from the dead?
Is there any prior suggestion
that this could have
happened?
12. The Story of Lazarus
John 11:24-26 (NKLV) – Martha said
to Him, “I know that he will rise again
in the resurrection at the last day.”
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection
and the life. He who believes in Me,
though he may die, he shall live. And
whoever lives and believes in Me shall
never die. Do you believe this?”
13. John 11:41-44
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up
and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard
me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this
for the benefit of the people standing here, that they
may believe that you sent me.’
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice,
‘LAZARUS, COME OUT!’ The dead man came
out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen,
and a cloth round his face.
14. John 11:24-26 (NKLV) – Martha said
to Him, “I know that he will rise
again in the resurrection at the last
day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the
resurrection and the life. He who
believes in Me, though he may die,
he shall live. 26 And whoever lives
and believes in Me shall never die.
Do you believe this?”
Lazarus has been raised from the Dead
15. So is there evidence to
support the Tomb was
Empty and Jesus had
been Resurrected?
16. Was the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth found
empty after his crucifixion? If not, then
Christianity is the greatest lie in history. The
apostle Paul says, “If Christ has not been
raised from the dead then your faith is futile
and you are still in your sins” (1 Cor. 15:17).
While the historicity of the empty tomb does
not by itself prove the resurrection, it plays
an important role.

“And they found the stone

but when they went in they
did not find the body of the
Lord Jesus.”
Luke 24:2-3
18. What is the proof of the
Empty Tomb, what does it
signify? and why do we
celebrate EASTER?
20. FIRST PROOF
#1: The Roman Seal was Broken: The seal
represented the full power and authority of the
Roman empire. Anyone seeking to steal Jesus’
body would have been very aware that in doing so
they were taking on Rome. Would Jesus’ disciples
have dared to do so? No! They were confused
and afraid, and most of them were in hiding. Even
Peter, who swore he’d be willing to die for Jesus,
denied knowing Christ three times before the
crucifixion!
21. SECOND PROOF
#2: The Stone was Rolled Away: Not only
had the heavy stone been rolled away, but it
had been rolled up an incline, in the presence
of the Roman Centurions.
22.
23. THIRD PROOF
#3: The Graveclothes Remained: No grave
robbers would have been able to re-enact so
carefully the clothes. Nor would it have entered
the robber’s mind to refold them. He would
have simply taken the body, graveclothes and
all.
24.
25. FOURTH PROOF
#4: The Guards were Paid to Keep Silent:
Obviously, the Jewish leaders must have inspected
the tomb and realized that the guards were telling
the truth. Why else would they cover for the guards
and pay them money to spread the lie that they fell
asleep, and the disciples came and removed the
body.
26.
27. Some of the Roman guards went into the city and
told the chief priests everything that had happened.
After the priests had assembled with the elders,
they devised a plan to give a large sum of money to
the soldiers, telling them, “You must say, ‘His
disciples came by night and stole him away while
we were asleep.” If this comes to the governor’s
ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of
trouble.” So they took the money and did as they
were directed. And this story is still told among the
Jews to this day.
28. Is there any proof of
The Theft Theory?
Jesus’ body was stolen
NO!
• If the Roman or Temple guards allowed
his (Jesus) body to be taken they would
have been executed or severely punished.
This never occurred.
• No challenge was given to the guard’s
story – they were instead protected and
paid to lie.
29. Why was no one able to ever find the body of Jesus Christ?
If he was buried?
30. IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE FOR THE
RESURRECTION OF JESUS??
• Biblical and secular accounts
refer to the resurrection of Jesus
Christ.
• He was seen by more than 500
people over 40 days after he was
resurrected.
31. FIFTH PROOF
#5: Christ was Seen by Many:
In 1 Corinthians 15:3-7, Paul lays down the earliest-
known creed of the Christian church:
For what I received I passed on to you as of first
importance: that Christ died for our sins according to
the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was
raised on the third day according to the
Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and
then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more
than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the
same time, most of whom are still living, though
some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to
James, then to all the apostles
32. For how many days after Jesus died
and rose again did he show himself
on earth?
40 days
How did he show that he was really alive, not a
ghost?
1. His body was still in a physical/spiritual
form to be seen and touched.
2. Many people saw him ( more than 500)
after the Resurrection.
3. His friends touched him, talked to him.
33. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But
he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and
put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his
side, I will not believe it."
