This document provides guidelines for the assessment of HIV-positive persons at initial and subsequent visits. It recommends conducting a complete medical history including family history of comorbidities, current medications, past/present comorbidities and vaccination history. Psychosocial factors like lifestyle habits, employment, social support and psychological well-being should also be assessed. Sexual history and reproductive plans should be addressed. Laboratory tests include HIV viral load, CD4 count, STI/viral hepatitis screening, and testing for opportunistic infections based on risk factors. The guidelines provide frequency of follow up and monitoring for stable versus unstable patients.
