The Dutch broadband market is a success story, with the Netherlands ranking first in the world for access to high-speed internet. Over 90% of Dutch households are connected to cable networks, with 5.8 million subscribers to cable television and 2.2 million subscribers to cable broadband. While the major telecom companies are larger, the cable companies have been innovative by introducing EuroDOCSIS 3.0 in 2009, allowing for ultra-high internet speeds over cable that have enabled broadband access of over 20 Mbps for all Dutch households.
