• As senior vice president of Medical Education Company, Craig Gelband draws on more than a
decade of experience in directing the creation of education programs and materials on behalf of
pharmaceutical company clients in areas such as diabetes, anesthesia, and critical care. A graduate
in zoology from Duke University, Craig Gelband is a member of the school's alumni association.
In addition to hosting reunions and regional events, the Duke Alumni Association (DAA) offers
several programs through which its members can continue learning and enrich their lives in a
variety of ways. One of these programs is Duke Travels, which hosts dozens of trips each year
coordinated and attended by a Duke faculty host. Trips include domestic travel to regions like
California, but the majority emphasize cultural experiences in foreign countries.
For instance, the 2019 DAA alumni travel itinerary includes trips to Vietnam, Egypt, Belize, Japan,
and the Galapagos Islands. The latter offering takes place from August 2 to 11 and costs $7,190.
Other trips, such as the 11-day expedition that goes through the Canadian Rockies and includes
tours of Glacier National Park and Banff National Park, are focused on nature and experiencing
the natural wonders of the world.
