This document discusses floor hardeners for protecting concrete floors. It describes dry-shake surface hardeners which are sprinkled onto fresh concrete to create an abrasion-resistant topping that is bonded to the concrete slab. Two specific hardeners are highlighted: HARDONATE METALTOP contains metallic aggregates and is very durable, while HARDONATE MINERALTOP uses quartz aggregates for a non-metallic option. Both products are recommended for use in industrial, commercial and heavy traffic applications. Application instructions are provided.

Protecting a concrete floor extends
beyond joints. The floor’s surface
is particularly vulnerable to damage
caused by impact and abrasion. Using
a surface hardener (commonly called
dry-shake), is one of the most effective
ways to protect the surface and extend
the life of the floor.

Dry-shake surface hardener is a
granular substance which
is sprinkled evenly over a fresh concrete
floor while it is curing. When it is power-
trowelled the dry-shake blends with the
surface of the concrete to create a
durable topping, monolithic with the
slab, which protects the concrete floor
and extends its life.

Dry-shake surface hardeners
comprise cement, aggregates,
admixtures and pigments blended
into a powder.
Different formulations are available
to suit a range of applications.

Metallic aggregate dry shake
hardeners can provide 8 times
the abrasion resistance of
standard concrete and 4 times
the abrasion resistance of
mineral aggregate dry shakes.

oxidizing metallic aggregate based floor
hardener designed for use in industrial
pavings and floors to produce heavy duty,
dense and tough floor surfaces able to
withstand wear, abrasion and dusting.

penetration of oils, grease, industrial
chemicals and other aggressive liquids.

Its a ready to use composition consisting of
Polymer modified binders and graded quartz
aggregates, formulated for dry shake on
application and for trowel embedment on fresh
concrete surface requiring high degree of
abrasion resistance.
ensures a non-metallic abrasion resistant surface
to concrete floors by the dry shake-on system. It
bonds monolithically with the base concrete,
ensuring high levels of performance

14. HARDONATE MINERALTOP
COVERAGE:
LIGHT DUTY 2.5 Kg/m2
MEDIUM DUTY 3.5 Kg/m2
HEAVY DUTY 5.0 Kg/m2

15. APPLICATION
Remove any excess water and wood float to
open the surface.
Evenly sprinkle 2/3rd of the HARDONATE
METALTOP/ MINERALTOP dry mix and wait till
it absorbs moisture from the concrete
underneath.
Once the surface has achieved a uniform
dark color, wood float it and then sprinkle
the remaining 1/3rd quantity of HARDONATE
METALTOP / MINERALTOP Dry mix.

16. APPLICATION
Again wait for the surface to absorb enough
moisture and then even out and float with a
wooden trowel.
The surface is given the required finish and
texture by flat steel trowelling followed by a
raised steel trowelling. The final trowelling
should be delayed for as long as possible
and should be continued till the surface is
completely closed and smooth glass like
finish is obtained.
