1) An orientation for researchers on the Avishkar research competition was held at PES Modern College in Pune on September 20th, 2017. 2) Over 250 research students from nearby institutions attended the orientation which featured lectures from university officials on conducting research and presenting projects. 3) The orientation aimed to provide guidance to students on selecting topics, methodology and presenting their work to attract evaluator interest and showcase potential societal impacts.

ORIENTATION LECTURES FOR RESEARCHERS
His Excellency, Governor of Maharashtra, Shri. S.M. Krishna has initiated a novel
research project competition named AVISHKAR in the year 2006. This activity, unique in
its nature, is being implemented through Board of College and University
Development. Savitribai Phule Pune University has taken special efforts to increase the
participation of the talented students from rural and urban areas. Special efforts were
taken to organize Regional competitions, organize, special training to these students
and provide them necessary help and guidance to enhance their abilities to present
their work in an effective manner. This activity has generated a lot of enthusiasm
amongst students and the participation is ever increasing.
We are happy to inform that Savitribai Phule Pune University has given
opportunity to our college to organize orientation lecture for researchers. In order to
get proper understanding and concept of avishkar we have conducted this orientation
programme on 20th
September 2017. For this orientation we have invited resource
persons from the selected list given by BCUD SP Pune University.
The invited resource persons were Prof. Dr.Ravindra Jaybhaye, Officer on
Special duty, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Dr.Mahesh Sindikar from College of
Engineering, Pune.

The inauguration of the orientation Programme was done by the auspicious
hands of Principal Dr.Sanjay Kharat, Dr.Ravindra Jaybhaye and Dr. Ravindra Kshirsagar
Academic and Research Coordinator Modern College Ganeshkhind Pune.
Prof. Dr.Ravindra Jaybhaye, addressed the students about Avishkar research
completion its history and types of research and the competition conducted in 5
categories viz.1) Humanities Languages and Fine arts (HL&FA) 2) Commerce 3) Pure
Science 4) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry 5) Medical and Pharmacy. In his talk he
has promoted students to participate in Avishkar competitions. He has given special
emphasis on various areas of research, how to present, and need based project with
expected outcome.

Dr.Ravindra kshirsagar ARC gave information about objective of orientation
lectures and Avishkar competition and also told the success story about Zonal level
avishkar competition conducted by college in 2013.he also informed total 171 projects
were presented by 350 students belonging from 48 different institutions. Out of this,
total 38 research project were selected for the University level research competition. He
also highlighted modernist endowment project in college campus like solar wind hybrid
project, solar light in campus water harvesting system and botanical garden, in his
speech promoted use of renewable energy which is a future need. He has also given
assurance to provide necessary infrastructure in coming Avishkar research Competition.

The university won the general championships at Avishkar, the state-level inter-
university research competition, which was hosted by the SRT University, Nanded, With
this win, the SPPU maintained its leadership position by retaining the coveted trophy for
the ninth time since the year of its inception in 2006.

The winners in the undergraduate category received a scholarship worth Rs 3,000 per
month for 10 months while those in the postgraduate category received Rs 6,000 per
month for 24 months to take their research forward.
Promising research projects conceived by the students of the Savitribai Phule
Pune University (SPPU) will now receive full support for patents and technology transfer
In second session of the orientation Dr.Mahesh sindikar COEP,Pune oriented
the students on various research areas of Humanities Languages and Fine arts (HL&FA)
Commerce. In his talk he has given presentation on theme of Avishkar, Research topics,
selection of topics, material and methodology and expected outcome of research. He
has given special emphasis on need based project. The project outcome should help the
society and stakeholders. He also gave idea about how to present research work in 5-7
minutes and also how to attract the minds of evaluators toward project with expected
outcome.
In this Orientation programme about 250 Research students belonging from
different nearby institutions form engineering, science humanities and commerce
faculties were present for the research seminar. Students were very happy after
orientation they have appreciated efforts take by ARC. At the end of Programme Dr.
Ravindra Kshirsagar ARC proposed vote of thanks towards resource persons, institute,
BCUD SP Pune University. Mr. Pankaj Gorule, Pradip Kumkar Manoj Pise, Miss.
Chandani Verma, Renuka and Rakesh More and Mr.Ranjit from the Department of
Zoology worked as volunteers in conducting this orientation lecture programme.
