The document discusses a proposed Dental Related Internet Marketing and Management (D.R.I.M.) project. The goals are to [1] create a global dental community where dentists, staff, suppliers, and patients are connected through the internet, [2] allow cost sharing of marketing and supplies among participating dentists, and [3] eventually expand to a worldwide dental network controlled by an artificial intelligence server. The system would integrate scheduling, payments, supplier requests, staff management, and analytics to provide benefits from reduced costs and 24/7 access and services.

An Intuitive and simple approach to Support Vector Machines. Estimated y (hyperplane) is f(x), weights are obtained through a gradient descent algorithm and a Gaussian Kernel was used. Commonest distance between variables VI1 and VI2 were obtained with a histogram. The hyperplane doesn't perfectly fit distance/2 because no constraints were applied. But certainly this intuitive approach it's much better than a linear regression and also useful as a classification algorithm, better than a K Nearest Neighbor, given that the perceptron is a "less" powerful KNN.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

Since 1997, 6.000 hours were dedicated to create this inovative approach in dental management and marketing by the
massive use of Internet advantages. Actually ( 10/27/99 ) There are 683 Mb in 6.796 files ( see video capture ).
D.R.I.M. Project is a partnership proposal, to create the most powerful dental management system in the world. It’s based
in the massive use of internet and the opportunity of being the first dental virtual manager in the world entering an actual
growing market share. Its purpose is to create an interconnected dental related community ( dentists, staff, dental
assistances and dental suppliers) 24 hours available.
Software and services needed are already in the market, although they are not totally interconnected by any system and
currently used for other purposes.
The Patient will be able to :
– Schedule himself from any cellular, public phone or computer ( remote access ) or even using audio and videoconference.
– Make online payments in regular phones and D.R.I.M. Website
– Access D.R.I.M. website to see images, maps, FAQ, dentists homepages and others
The Dentist will be able to :
– connect to D.R.I.M. server and evaluate his/her performance monthly, receiving graphics and useful management tips, create
his/her own e-brochure, select staff by videoconference
The Staff will be able to :
– download schedule from internet server
– apply filters daily and weekly, to manage schedule, recalls, birthdays, dental procedures, accounts and follow-ups
– use email for sending cards, remembering the patient about the appointment
– make online payments to Dental Suppliers
Dental Suppliers will access D.R.I.M. server to get the dental materials requests
Dental Assistances will be able to:
– reimburse their dentists using online services, no more letters, papers, unnecessary delays and costs.
– Apply filters to determine details of production: dentists, procedures, amount of reimburse, number of associates using a
specific dentist, etc
D.R.I.M. management system can be used also for medical area, like hospitals, where each patient / room could have a
web page containing updates of patient records, evolution of disease and other. Medical Plans can be stongly beneficiated
by D.R.I.M. using the same features planned for dentists.

Advantages and BenefitsAdvantages and Benefits
D.R.I.M. Advantages and benefits:
– Dentists will create local D.R.I.M. Professional Groups and will be able to share marketing investment and more
advantages when buying together in dental suppliers
– Unlimited Global Market: dentistry, computers and internet are everywhere
– Inelastic demand: Dentistry is a human basic need, almost regardless of price, fashion or local market
– Dentistry relationship is based in confidence. Yes, there are millions of consumers ( patients ) but each one is
under custody of a dentist. Shared management
– It requires minimal labor requirements: it’s a self managed virtual corporation
– Does not need large amounts of eletricity, advertising, legal advice, high priced employees, large inventory, etc
– Does not require big cash outlays or major investments in equipment: only a database located in the Internet
server and practice’s software
– Is based in a reliable e-commerce: there are almost none “one-buy” patients: security can be achieved
combining number of treatment plan + credit card number + name of dentist + name of patient . D.R.I.M.
connects all parts involved in dental treatment: patients, staff, dentists, dental assistances, dental suppliers,
banks and graphic shops.
– Relatively free of government and industry regulations and strictures
– It is movable to every part of the world where there is a phone line and energy: can be accessed
– It satisfies intellectual needs. Dentists and staff will be able to follow-up their monthly production using auto
generated graphics and stablish goals and marketing plans, by themselves or requesting third part support
– D.R.I.M. does not require user attention ( dentist and staff ) and labor 8 to 18 hours a day. It is self managed.
Uploads and downloads may be done once a day
– Most of times dentists and patients incomes are limited by personal output, so it’s extremely important save time

Project GoalsProject Goals
Main Goal
– Create a Dental Community where all parts involved will have benefits provided from Internet massive use
( low cost, speed, all over the world 24 hours available services and others ) ( see below)
– Allow dentists to create a dental community where buying and marketing costs can be shared, once all
dentists using D.R.I.M. concept will be benefitiated by its growth
– See also D.R.I.M. Advantages and Benefits
Relationship with other areas
– D.R.I.M. links patients, dentists, staff, dental suppliers and dental assistances and banks in a complete
network. At first sight it seems a little bit complex, but once installed, it will be self managed by itself. Most
of the services are already available, but not linked yet .
High level goals in the long term
– create a worldwide dentistry related network, controlled by a server using artificial intelligence to generate
more accurate feedback ( management and marketing suggestions for users ) and more profitable
margins.
– Get Bookmarks in Netscape and Microsoft browsers : health center :
• dentistry, medical specialties, drugstores, useful tips ( prevention tips, first aid, hearth diseases, links
to hospitals, health insurance, etc ). It would be able to check appointment changes and remember
patients of their appointments last time internet is used before appointment ( can be disabled )
– Launch D.R.I.M. in NYSE ( New York Stock Exchange )
Back to Overview
P.S.: The main objective of the D.R.I.M. concept is facilitate the dental supplier-dentist-staff-patient relationship. We know
that personal contact is very important and we do not intend to depreciate it. D.R.I.M. users can improve their time
management so that dentists and staff can have more time to spend on personal attention, not related to operational
procedures.

Conventional SystemConventional System
There is no interactiveness, no feedback. Dental Suppliers, Dentists and Dental Assistances have web
pages located in different http://www. addresses with information available, but involved parts can’t really
act, uploading their information, personal needs and get real time feedback. This don’t stimulate the visitor
to come back to that web page again.
Dentists can access Dental Suppliers products and prices, but they have to make a materials list, ask the
staff to call the Dental Supplier and then the supplier deliveries the order. There are possiblilities of human
mistakes, busy lines and others, that can delay the completion of this vital step.
Staff has to go to bank to make practice’s payments to Dental Suppliers
99% of times web pages are developed by a webmaster, there is no specialized support ( dentist and
management specialist ). Web sites are rarely directed to practice’s needs and stablished goals
There are lots of one way entries, but they are not interacting with each other

Problems:
1- Distribution: the system must be tested in
large escale prior to distribution
2- Implantation: dentists, dental suppliers and
dental assistances have different softwares
3- Staff, dentists, dental assistances and
dental suppliers must be oriented for the
correct use of the new system
Problems and SolutionsProblems and Solutions
Solutions:
1- Although Brazil has only 5 Mi internet
users, it could be an interesting test option
2a- Export data in a *.txt ( search how many
softwares can do that )
2b- Once the practice needs to generate data
for evaluation and this data must be collected
from the patients registers, staff could create
a new detailed database for the last 5 years.
Older registers must be kept.
2c- Option 2 - Mantain their softwares and
import requests from website in *.txt ( search
how many softwares can do that and the
costs involved )
3- Create a friendly interface to make things
easier

Present ( partial internet use ) : one way system. Most of dentists has a dental management software. It
manages schedule, accounts and store images. It also has some filters so that staff can send letters in
special occasions, like Christmas, Birthday and periodical recalls. E-commerce is not enfatized.
Dental software:focuses in patient records, images, accounts, schedule with little or no focus on evaluation,
control and improvement methods in the marketing and management area. Few softwares generate
graphics and only one gives the user tips based in a “ if - then “ situation.
Dental office: uses conventional dental management software, using too little internet features, no use of e-
commerce, few sites full of features, few use of advanced marketing and management concepts
Dental Suppliers: uses stock and contacts database software, with little use of internet. They have websites with
products but e-commerce is not enfatized.
Dental Assistances: uses more powerful software, but rarely linked to dentists and patients computers in a real
time assistance with e-commerce resources for reimbursement.
Basically, Internet is used as an isolated communication, most of times needs personal contact live or by phone,
there is no interrelated network. Once the patient needs to contact the dentist or Dental Assistance, the
use of internet is not stimulated.
Future ( full internet use ): D.R.I.M. proposal is give Internet more powerful features, so that website can give
total solutions to patients, dentists, dental assistances and dental suppliers needs. Due to technology and
competition, dentists will need more professional dental softwares connected to an Internet Server,
increasing the use of maketing and management concepts, including stock control, data exportation and
graphic generation. E-commerce and will be routine.

New technology in use
– Always-on Internet technology DSL :
• faster: saves time in downloads and uploads
• no busy lines, no delays
• allows multiple patients to contact the practice at the same time: no need of additional phone
lines for employees
– D.R.I.M. has lots of exclusive features that surely no other dental management system
has, like as:
• stock related dental procedures
• wide range graphic analisys: dental practice is treated like a real business and dentists don’t
have to worry about the knowledge for that: D.R.I.M. server has an “ if-then ” feature that
automatically suggests changes in marketing and other areas
• fully interactive system: D.R.I.M. server is the brain of the whole process ( artificial inteligence )
and connects dentists, staffs, dental suppliers, dentists, dental assistances, graphic shops and
banks
Established patterns
– the D.R.I.M. concept uses current tecnology, although the last is not frequently used in
a dental practice management in such a high level.
– Internet usually is not used in a 2 way sytem. The visitor only interacts with the
website, there are rarely third parts involved
