TOO LATE FOR BAD TIMING
The story follows a scientist named Kyle as he deals with the loss of his wife, he
desperately attempts to build a time machine in order to go back and spend the
time with her in his youth that he missed out on by focusing on inventions. The
story follows his personal struggle through this, along with flashbacks to his time
he missed and him building the time machine.

3. CHARACTERS
• Kyle – The protagonist of the film will be a disgruntled middle-
aged/old man who is filled with regret and sorrow at the loss of
his wife and for missing what was in front of him. He is
extremely intelligent and extremely focused and has a little
spark of hope left in him.
• Sarah – Kyle’s deceased wife, she is extremely caring, lively and
fun in her youth. But years of being left in the shadow of the
person she loved had left her quite cold as well. She died of
surgical complications. She truly loved Kyle as well but wished
he was more supportive and affectionate.

4. LOCATIONS
• A Warehouse Area – This is Kyle’s working area where he is
building the time machine. It is dull and grimy, it is very bear
bones and is used as a visual representation of Kyle’s state of
mind
• A home – Kyle’s house/old house will be the scene of many of
the flashbacks and emotional moments within the film and will
be used to illustrate the death of his wife through his inability to
change from the routines he is used to (Making two meals, etc.)
• Some outside environments – These will mostly be used for
contextual reasons if they are used. In order to illustrate time
travel happening in the outside world but will not be a major
focus in the film.

5. REQUIREMENTS
• An older male lead actor who can give off a subtle performance
of someone who is sarcastic, resigned and hard-faced but still
likeable.
• A fairly young female actress (20s-30s) since she’ll mostly be
shown in flashbacks, who is able to play a quite warm character
with a wide range of emotions
• A house we can film in.
• A warehouse like area we can film in (The workstation most
likely)
• Costumes (Particularly a white lab coat or similar for lead)
• Potentially aging make-up depending on the age of the lead
actor

6. SECOND IDEA
UNDER LOVE AND KEY
A young girls mother dies, her father then takes it upon himself to protect her.
However he goes to the extreme and decides that the best way to keep her safe is
to lock her in the house. But while at first she believes her father in keeping herself
locked away is what is for the best, she ultimately decides what is best for her is to
escape and find her way again in the outside world.

7. CHARACTERS
• Girl – The girl will be quite young at the start of the film, upset
at the loss of her mother and fearful due to her father’s over-
protective nature driving her to remain stuck locked in her
home for the better part of her teenage years, until her thrives
to leave this situation pushes her to finally break away and join
the world.
• Father – A middle-aged man who has dealt with a lot of loss in
his life. And his fear of losing the only person he has left in the
world, his daughter, leads him to a rash decision to keep her
locked in the house so she does not die the way his wife had.
He is a caring person, but mentally, extremely disturbed and not
understanding of his daughter’s desires

8. LOCATIONS
• Bedroom – This will be the environment most of the film takes
place with the girl dealing with her confinement
• Living Room – This will be used for the initial scene to set up the
loss of the girl’s mother and be used through most scenes
involving the father.
• Street/park – This is where the girl will be seen accidently
injuring herself outside of her father’s supervision which will
lead to him deciding to keep her locked away.

9. REQUIREMENTS
• Need a young actress around the age of 12 who is able to play a
fairly wide range of emotions (this will need parental permission
and supervision as a major requirement)
• Need an older actress around 18 who can believably play an
older version of this same character with the same range of
emotions to bring out in performance
• Need a middle-aged man who can play someone who is clearly
caring but extremely over-bearing as a father.
• Need a house that is an interesting enough environment to
sustain the majority of the film’s events and is believably a
prison like environment from the girl’s perspective.
