Draft for question 1
I decided to go with the horror genre for my movie as I felt it would be best for
me. To begin with I did some research to look into different conventions of
horror such as killers, victims, locations and different styles of horror. The things
that appealed to me most were houses for a location and serial killers.
After that I analysed the opening sequence to the film resident evil to get ideas
on how set out my film opening.
To get an idea of where to put my titles I watched a title sequence of Pacific Rim.
This helped me a lot as I now had an idea as to where I put my titles. I followed
this as much as I could when it came to creating my own movie however as I was
working on my own I had limited actors but the titles were where I felt they
should be.
After this I did a survey to find out what conventions of horror people preferred.
As the majority of people did not pick serial killers as the scariest I decided to be
different and go with the idea of serial killers.
The research had quite a big impact on my movie; I took the ideas of cereal
killers and I took the location of a house. My research of title sequences helped
my figure out where to put my titles and how to arrange them in order. Of
importance.
I feel that I have not been unconventional in any way, however there is a part
were the victim attempts to fight back. Although this is common in most horror
films I feel that it is uncommon for the victim to overpower the killer but still
manage to get killed.
