 Born on May 2, 1955, Donatella Versace has has
kept the Versace name and empire at the fore-front
of fashion since the untimely death of her brother
Gianni in 1997, never failing to look anything other
than immaculate along the way.
 Along with her three siblings, Donatella was
brought up in Reggio di Calabria, Italy, by their
father and dressmaker mother.
 Versace Group is one name that
automatically comes to mind when we
think of a big fashion brand and
Donatella Versace, the brand's current
Vice-President, is a major reason for
that.
 Since childhood, Donatella has always
been a person full of life as she started
accompanying her brother to discos and
nightclubs from the age of 11. With her
creative abilities, she came up with the
idea of using well-known models for the
catwalk shows so that the label would
get good press coverage.
 Gianni awarded her with her own diffusion
label, Versus which still produces clothes today.
 Originally intent on being in public relations with
her brother's line, Donatella has used that PR
knowledge to help keep the Versace name in the
news despite some financial hardships after her
brother's death in 1997.
 Donatella's success as a fashion designer was pretty
much instantaneous, due to the fact that her first
line was gifted to her by Gianni. But after his
murder, the Versace empire fell upon hard times. It
was during the rebuilding process that Donatella
showed her other talent - public relations.
 Using celebrity friends such as
Madonna, Demi Moore, Elton John and
others, she began to equate the Versace
name with celebrity in the public eye. By
doing so, she managed to turn the Versace
line back into a force in the fashion
industry as she branches out into other
pursuits like resorts.
 She holds a great amount of Versace
stock, totalling 20% of the entire
stock market assets of Versace. Her
brother, Santo Versace, owns 30%.
Donatella's daughter Allegra Versace
got 50% of the company stocks after
Gianni Versace died.
she soon proved to be the
public relations giant within the
Versace label and spread its
name throughout Europe and
most of the United States.
Donatella chose to place some
of her good
friends, Madonna, Christina
Aguilera, Jonathan Rhys Meyers
and Demi Moore, in high esteem
in the Versace advertising
sector, making them and other
A-List celebrities the persona
and image of Versace.
 She now oversees the production of a dozen collections
each year, though these days, Donatella is just as
famous for her celebrity entourage and glittering
parties. Regular guests include Sir Elton John, Liz
Hurley, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kate Moss. Even
Prince Charles attends Donatella's parties for the
famous and elite throughout Europe.
 In October, 1997 Donatella won a VH1 award for Versus
and accepted the National Italian American
Foundation’s Fashion Excellence and Friendship awards
on Gianni’s behalf.
 Versace Collection traces its origins back to 1991
with a range initially intended exclusively for
men, and focused on the American
market, where it achieved immediate success
through its combination of formal styling and
fashion appeal. The reception of Versace
Collection was positive and immediate, leading
to widespread distribution throughout the rest
of the world.
 In 2009 under the creative and stylistic direction
of Donatella Versace, the Versace Collection for
Women was launched, also produced and
distributed by Versace S.P.A.
 Versace Collection, a brand in its own right, features the half
Medusa logo, recalling the iconic image of Maison Versace. The
Versace Collection lines offer a wide choice of clothes and
accessories, of indisputable quality and strong fashion content
that possess their individual DNA but always relate to that of the
Versace Group.
 Versace Collection addresses the needs of a clientele who wish to
dress with style and individuality, in a contemporary and stylish
fashion, while avoiding ostentation and excess.
 Versace Collection is distributed through boutiques, shop in shops
and multi brand outlets, throughout the world. The Group has
also undertaken a new store opening plan with the projected
opening of about 50 Versace Collection outlets, including
boutiques and shop in shops.
 Attention to detail and commitment to the finest quality
co-exist in every Versace creation. The choice of
materials is made with the utmost selectivity, reflecting
the traditions and style of the brand. Each Versace
creation exudes the spirit of sheer excellence.
 The evolution of the Versace style demonstrates a
perfect balance between the classical and the modern.
Strong lines and attractive shapes are combined with
precious materials and stones handled with exquisite
craftsmanship. The designs of Versace jewellery and
watches provide a definitive expression of the
glamorous style of the Maison.

demand a theatrical entrances.
 Donatella Versace has a famous production in
this field too.
 Versace has introduced many high class
perfumes and colognes such as, time for
pleasure, dreamer, Hommie.etc.
 Versace produces luxurious bags, for both men
and women.
 She started the idea of tote bags.
 Handbags, purses, wallets and clutches are well
renowned.
 Versace sunglasses denote
luxury, glamour, elegant style and
sunglasses design.
 Today, Versace shades are among the
world's leading names in fashion.
 The essence of the Versace style runs through a
series of strong, captivating suggestions, whose
uniqueness combines the appeal of precious
materials with a strong taste for vibrant colours
and bold ideas.
 The collection explores every room of the
home, offering a wide selection of bed
linen, bath towels, table cloths, furniture, lamps
and accessories.
 In addition to clothing and accessories, it also
operates a hotel, the Palazzo Versace. The
hotel, which opened in September 2000 on
Australia's Gold Coast, is the first to be branded
by an international luxury goods company.
Another Palazzo Versace is currently under
development in Dubai, scheduled to open in late
2013.
