I was promoted to audit manager in April 2014. I am now responsible for managing multiple audits and
teams along with managing the finance aspect of the audits I manage.
I manage a portfolio of around 12 clients with my main clients including
Real Estate
• Jones Lang LaSalle (a US listed Real Estate group),
• Quintain (a UK listed Real Estate group),
• Wainbridge group
• St Martins group
Investment Management
• Insight Investment Management Limited (Bank of New York Mellon Group)
Which report under US GAAP, IFRS and UK GAAP.
Managing multiple engagements, responsibilities include
• Finance management including
o Managing the fee negotiation directly with clients and managing their expectations in
terms of timelines and reporting
o Budgeting of jobs in line with KPMG targets
o Budget monitoring during multiple projects and keeping track of any areas where the
projects are nit tracking and making contingency plans
o Billing and overrun discussions on projects
o Monitoring debtors in portfolio and ensuring timely payment
• People management including
o Coaching and guiding people to ensure they perform at their highest potential including
recognising development areas and assisting in guiding the development
o Motivating the assist managers to ensure they can run the day to day of their project
team and report in to me appropriately
o Dealing with any people problems in multiple teams with each team comprising 3-5
people at a time
o Resourcing multiple projects to ensure smooth project and meeting of deadlines

o Managing the partner’s expectations and dealing with communication between the
client and partner if need be.
• Risk management process of onboarding new clients as well as continuance on current clients.

Since I have moved to London I have been involved in the managing audit field work at clients within
the Real Estate sector, the main companies being
• Jones Lang LaSalle (a US listed Real Estate group),

• Romulus construction
where I have reported under US GAAP, IFRS, and UK GAAP.
I have also worked with several clients of other types, notably Foresight Group (Private Equity) and
Brompton (Asset management firm).
Supervising audit teams in London, I managed teams of around 3 and 5 people at a time.
Responsibilities’ include:
• Managing budgets of audits along with tracking and reporting back during and after the audit to
assess progress.
• Dealing with the team members and handling any people problems coming up in the team.
• Dealing with the client- managing expectations, deadlines and deliverables.
• Managing the manager to ensure that expectations are met and kept realistic as well as any
problems being communicated and solutions proposed.

I started as an Audit Trainee and progressed to Supervisor level during my training contract at KPMG
Cape Town.
I was involved primarily in the external audits of investment funds, asset managers and hedge funds.

• Fund Managers (acsis Limited, Fairheads Group, Old Mutual Unit Trust Managers)
• Hedge Funds (Local and offshore funds)
• Pension Funds (Welfit Oddy Provident Fund, Oceana Pension Fund)
• Medical Schemes(Medipos Medical Scheme, Fishing Industry Medical Scheme)
Responsibilities over the training period increased from completing audit field work to acting as Auditor
in charge for audit engagements.
This period included working within a team, gaining skills around teamwork.
Position requires great deal of client interaction and therefore soft skills.
My time during articles has taught me how to manage multiple projects including different teams,
working with people from different cultural backgrounds and dealing with any conflicts at clients.
Managing tight deadlines in order to deliver to clients and dealing with obstacles that arise during the
audit.
