Profitable Prospecting with Social MediaMaura Neill
What does real estate marketing look like in today’s world? Marketing for clients and lead generation have changed dramatically in the past decade, and we’ve entered a new frontier. Reaching clients and potential customers used to be a costly venture – with long printing wait-times and pricey postage. Today, online marketing options offer us a free way to keep in touch with our current spheres and reach potential new clients, but the rules are different. This new school of marketing, with its multitude of social media platforms and opportunities, requires a new kind of marketing savvy and can be overwhelming to navigate. This course teaches you how to combine tools like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube (and more!) along with email marketing and blogging, with the tried-and-true marketing techniques you already know. The class will teach you to:
- Develop an online brand that expresses who you are and helps you maintain a consistent online presence.
- Create a social media strategy that works for you and incorporates the platforms with which you are most comfortable.
- Combine “old school” techniques, like direct mail and print advertising, with new school opportunities, like your Facebook business page and blogging, to create a more cost-effective and optimized approach to marketing.
Helen Todd, CEO of Sociality Squared, and Chris Thorton, Chief Marketing Officer of Definition 6, spoke about the importance of visual marketing at Social Media Week 2013.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

As a nonprofit, you’re all used to doing more with less, right? So, i thought about some of the suggestions I make to the colleges, departments and such when they ask me how they can increase their numbers. These were the first five that came to mind. I’m sure there are more, but we’ve only got an hour.\n
\n
Remember the expression “If you build it, they will come”. That’s how a lot of people treat their social media. You have to count on people discovering you on those platforms, which may or may not happen. You’re already trying to get noticed in a space that’s already pretty crowded.\n
Take advantage of lists of “fans” you already have - your newsletter readers! As an aside, if you aren’t mailing out your newsletter using a service that measures open rates, you’re missing out. Use MailChimp.com!\n

This is good. Make sure your site has visual links to the accounts you use, just like on your newsletter.\n

So yes, only 160 fans of every 1000 will see your content.\n\nThis number was presented by Facebook during a conference in February 2012. There’s just too much content out there. The average Facebook user has 245 friends and many of those are posting content. And that’s not even including all the pages that a person could be a fan of.\n
Why does Facebook needs an algorithm? Because, for instance, on average more than 300 million photos uploaded to Facebook per day in the three months ended March 31, 2012.\n\n
EdgeRank is an algorithm that ranks objects in the Facebook News Feed. Pages with high EdgeRank Scores will be more likely to show up in the news feed, than Pages with low EdgeRank Scores.\nEdgeRank is made up of 3 variables: Affinity, Weight, and Time Decay. Affinity is dependent on a user’s relationship with an object in the news feed. Weight is determined by the type of object, such as a photo/video/link/etc. The last variable is Time Decay, as an object gets older, the lower the value.\n\nBasically, this means that you have to post a variety of content - including photos, videos and links, you have to post frequently (but not too frequently) and you must create content that people want to engagement with and share. The more they share + comment - and the more you comment back - the more exposure you’ll get and the better your EdgeRank.\n
