But, determining how Google+ fits into a brand's growing social ecosystem can be a challenge. In this Critical Mass POV, our social media team reviews the most interesting features and benefits to brands using Google+ Pages, outlines some great use-cases and offers some guidance on how your brand may want to approach Google+.
There's lots of talk about Google Plus. From the fastest growing social network to the least used, everyone has an opinion about its merits and benefits.
The one things that everybody agrees on though is that it has immense influence when it comes to search results - and happens to integrate a pretty neat social network to boot.
We've tried to put together a guide as to exactly what the benefits are and whether or not you should be looking to launch your Google Plus presence.
Let us know what you think below - have you found any other benefits to it?

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Does The World Really Need Google Plus

Will Google+ be a Facebook killer?

2. Does the World really need Google+?
Google+
The hype Whilst Google+ is still only in beta stage, it is also one of the most hyped
products of today – preparing to compete with the market leading
Facebook.
But is it likely Google will succeed in convincing hundreds of millions of
people who are already using Facebook to migrate to Google+? Or the
100 million who are already using LinkedIn?
Some have already criticized Google+ for being a “reactive” product,
simply copying Facebook with some tweaks and it is obviously Facebook
Google is preparing to compete against, not LinkedIn.
Feature Comparison
Let’s first do a quick comparison of the key features offered by the
combatants
Key features
“Profile” “Profile” “Profile”

that you want to share business / CV approach
“People” “Friends” “Connections”

etc. with your relations and not widely used

3. Does the World really need Google+?
Anything new?
So if Google thinks it has reinvented social networking with Google+, I
disagree, as a networking tool to share information about yourself and
follow what your relations are doing, Google+ or Facebook is the same
thing – while LinkedIn is clearly more focused on business relations.
Google Circles However, there is one feature where Google+ stands out – Google
Circles.
Google have nailed it when they realized that Facebook’s weakness was
privacy.
A new approach to sharing
A new way of sharing Therefore content control is centric to Google’s approach, and one that
much more closely reflects everyday life. After all, you really don’t want
to share the same pictures with your boss as you do with say your
drinking buddies, do you?
Google+ is based on the Google Circles feature, which lets you share and
view content to and from explicitly identified groups of your contacts,
and no one else. You can divide your relations into e.g. friends,
colleagues, family, neighbors or whatever makes sense for you – and
select to share each post or picture with the exact groups (Circles) you
want to.
Now that’s a new approach, compared to that of Facebook where you
share everything with all your relations.
Combining Facebook and To use myself as an example, today I use LinkedIn for professional
LinkedIn? connections and only Facebook for a limited set of private friends
because what I share on Facebook is not always stuff I would want
business relations to see.
Could Google Circles be the tool that allows me to use the same tool for
both?
However, shouldn’t we expect that Facebook is already working on a
similar feature? After all, it’s not a difficult thing to implement.

4. Does the World really need Google+?
Google is in an uphill battle
The undisputed situation is that Google are in a very bad position: Their
tool is not really bringing new features that could not easily be copied by
The value lies in the users,
not the tool
Facebook – and at the same time Facebook already has an impressive 750
million users.
At the end of the day, the value of a social networking tool lies in the
people using it and the information they share – the tool itself only plays
a small role.
So does that mean Google+ is going to be only a short parenthesis in the
big book of social networks? I think that is too early to say, in the near
term, many contented Facebook users will see no need for Google+, but
over time selected features could possibly attract users: Hangout, Huddle,
and Instant Upload.
A religious battle? Or this could be a religious battle between Google-lovers and Facebook-
lovers, as has been seen before between PC’s vs. Apple, iPhone vs.
Android, or even VHS vs. Betamax for those of us who are old enough to
remember.
In all these cases it’s safe to say the battle is not always won based on
best functionality, but on branding, creating hype, establish a group of
true believers and getting to a critical mass.
The verdict
The key to success In other words, the success of Google+ will depend on one thing only –
how many relations you have and what interactions you make with those
relations.
If your friends all leave Facebook for Google+, so will you. But is it
likely Google+ will attract sufficient critical mass before the hype
diminishes?
Only time will show.
