3. *A kind of flightless bird.
*Common in the island of
Mauritius.
*Like many animals that
evolved in isolation from
significant predators, the
dodo was entirely fearless
of humans. This
fearlessness and its
inability to fly made the
dodo easy prey for sailors
4. *Flew in lakhs along the North
American skies.
*They were hunted by Native
Americans.
*Pigeon meat was commercialized
as cheap food, resulting in hunting
on a massive scale for many
decades.
* There were several other factors
contributing to the decline and
subsequent extinction of the
species, including shrinking of the
large breeding populations
necessary for preservation of the
species and widespread
deforestation, which destroyed its
habitat.
5. *A wild Zebra variety.
*From the southern part of
Africa.
*It was distinguished from
other zebras by its limited
pattern of primarily
brown and white stripes,
mainly on the front part
of the body.
* The rear was brown and
without stripes, and
therefore more horse-
like.
6. *As it was easy to find and kill, the quagga
was hunted by early Dutch settlers and later
by Afrikaners to provide meat or for their
skins.
*The skins were traded or used locally. The
quagga was probably vulnerable to
extinction due to its limited distribution
