A Questionnaire Developed For Conducting Fieldwork On Endangered And Indigeno...Martha Brown
ย
This document presents a questionnaire for conducting fieldwork on endangered and indigenous languages in India. The questionnaire was developed through discussions with linguists and is designed to create dictionaries and basic grammars for documented languages. It includes sections on details of language experts, language vitality, diversity and attitudes, word and sentence lists, anthropological questions, and demographic profiling. The goal is to document languages in a standardized yet flexible way while balancing academic and community needs. Picture books and videos are used to elicit unique linguistic aspects for each language.

This document discusses the study of linguistic worldviews in constructed languages using Esperanto as an example. It provides an overview of linguistic worldview and definitions from literature. It then discusses Esperanto's characteristics including its constructed nature but natural development over time through use. The document outlines classifications of language development and considers whether Esperanto's community allows for analysis of linguistic worldview despite issues like its primarily L2 speakers and influence from other languages and cultures. It concludes Esperanto contains necessary elements for linguistic worldview analysis but the multilingual nature requires additional study.
This issue of the Fortell journal focuses on innovative teaching methodologies for English language and literature. Articles discuss using literature to develop language skills, a language-based approach to poetry interpretation, and the use of ICT technologies like mobile phones and multimedia in the classroom. Other articles examine how sociolinguistic factors influence second language learning and using observation as a learning and assessment tool for teachers and students. The issue aims to foster dialogue on bridging the needs of learners and effective teaching practices through diverse topics.

The document discusses some of the challenges international students face in navigating academic culture in the U.S. It notes that language proficiency is just one factor, and cultural differences can exist in concepts like learning and teaching styles, teacher-student relationships, and expectations around class participation. The document reviews several studies on international students from China, India, and Japan that highlight issues around socializing into new academic discourse communities and negotiating identities within those communities. It cautions against overgeneralizing experiences and provides tips for international students to better understand concepts like critical thinking expectations in U.S. education.

Some Gaps in the Current Studies of Reading in Second/Foreign Language LearningDr. Seyed Hossein Fazeli
ย
The ability to read written material is very important in the civilized world. In a society characterized by globalization and technological change, where knowledge is becoming increasingly important, reading ability is a key skill for active participation. The intent of the current study is to set out the nature of reading alongside express importance of reading and reading comprehension. The importance of the present study is to explore the current studies of reading in order to find out some common main gaps in such studies. Such gaps are related to reading, reading comprehension and reading strategies, vocabulary and fluency.
This document lists 17 publications by the author from 2008 to 2012 in various academic journals and conference proceedings. The publications cover a range of topics including quality assurance in education, job expectations and practices, using project approaches in English courses, students' management of learning, English grammar instruction, designing instructional materials, assessment, reading instruction, laboratory report writing, checklists for writing instruction, and the use of authentic materials in teaching. Two textbooks on English language teaching and world history are also listed.
This document discusses using language in lessons and how teachers can take advantage of lessons as contexts for authentic language experiences. It notes that language use is natural and embedded in social contexts. It also suggests that teachers can observe and document natural language use in lessons, analyze it to study teaching and learning, and share their enjoyment of language with students. Finally, it poses questions about opportunities to take action, circumstances to investigate, and using social networking for collaboration on these topics.
Buddha used clear, soft, simple language to effectively communicate and teach others about Dhamma. He tailored his language based on his audience, using explanation, stories, questions and answers. Buddha's language had qualities like being fully understandable, meaningful, pleasant sounding and concise. - The document analyzes the rhetorical moves in the findings and discussion sections of 113 unpublished research articles written by Indonesian undergraduate EFL students.
- It finds that most sections included the four main moves of providing background information, reporting results, summarizing results, and commenting on results. However, some sections lacked detailed information in steps like explaining findings or highlighting significance.
- Randomized rhetorical patterns were also dominant, which can reduce clarity and rigor. Despite this, linguistic realizations like tense and voice mostly conformed to conventions.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
ย
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
