The document summarizes Julien Simon's presentation at Docker Paris #28 about Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS). It highlights that ECS now supports Docker 1.9, is available in new regions, and includes new features like CloudWatch metrics and EC2 Container Registry (ECR) for storing and managing Docker images in AWS. It also provides links to case studies and a quick demo of using ECR to build, tag, push, and delete Docker images.

AWS Lambda is a serverless compute service that runs your code in response to events and automatically manages the underlying compute resources for you. You can use AWS Lambda to extend other AWS services with custom logic, or create your own back-end services that operate at AWS scale, performance, and security. Lambda runs your code on high-availability compute infrastructure and performs all the administration of the compute resources, including server and operating system maintenance, capacity provisioning and automatic scaling, code and security patch deployment, and code monitoring and logging. All you need to do is supply the code.

Kubernetes on AWS with Amazon EKS - MAD301 - New York AWS SummitAmazon Web Services
Containers are a lightweight and very fast alternative to virtual machines. But keeping track of and coordinating a vast array of individual containers is no small feat and requires orchestration for all of the components to act as one. Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) is the tool to handle this task. In this session, learn about this service’s latest new features.

But keeping track of and coordinating a vast array of individuals containers is no small feat and requires orchestration for all of the components to act as one. Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) is the tool to handle this task. In this session, you learn how to containerize and migrate existing applications to Amazon EKS without needing to refactor your code or tooling. We show you how with Amazon EKS you can easily deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Kubernetes on AWS.
Connect and Interconnect – The Mesh of Event-Driven Compute and Marvelous Vir...Amazon Web Services
Let’s enter the new world of serverless, voice and event-driven compute to build a broad mesh of interconnected smart devices. Services like Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, AWS IoT, Amazon Mobile Hub and Alexa Skills Kit all help to build completely serverless, smart, voice-enabled architectures within minutes without managing any servers. We will demonstrate interesting Webhook integrations with Facebook and Slack, build mobile apps on the fly, send containers into the cloud and give Amazon Echo new skills. In addition, experience Amazon Lumberyard, a free, cross-platform, 3D game engine to create the highest-quality games, connect your virtual worlds to the vast compute and storage of the AWS Cloud, and engage fans on Twitch. It has never been a better time to build!
Architecting security and governance through policy guardrails in Amazon EKS ...Amazon Web Services
Amazon EKS makes it easy to run Kubernetes on AWS without managing master nodes or etcd operators. Kubernetes offers a powerful abstraction layer for managing containerized infrastructure, which presents unique challenges to AWS media customers. In this session, we share lessons from Synamedia, and we discuss its reasons for moving to EKS and the security and governance implications for migrating workloads. Learn about the approach and benefits for establishing security and governance with Open Policy Agent (OPA), which uses Kubernetes validating and mutating admission controllers to establish policy guardrails for container registries, input, load balancers, and other objects within EKS.

Building Machine Learning Inference Pipelines at Scale (July 2019)Julien SIMON
Talk at OSCON, Portland, 18/07/2019
Real-life Machine Learning applications require more than a single model. Data may need pre-processing: normalization, feature engineering, dimensionality reduction, etc. Predictions may need post-processing: filtering, sorting, combining, etc.
Our goal: build scalable ML pipelines with open source (Spark, Scikit-learn, XGBoost) and managed services (Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, Amazon SageMaker)

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
