Two disciples were walking on the road to Emmaus after Jesus' crucifixion, discussing the recent events. Jesus joined them but they did not recognize him. He explained how the Messiah was prophesied to suffer and enter glory. When they invited him to stay, Jesus broke bread with them and their eyes were opened; they then recognized him but he vanished. The disciples then rushed back to Jerusalem to share the news with the others that they had seen the risen Lord.

What is death? What is life? Why is it true that we cannot truly live until we accept our mortality? How did the resurrection of Jesus Christ forever defeat death? Who is Jesus Christ and how was He able to accomplish what no other person in the history of man accomplished? What will happen to you when you die?

This is a study of Jesus being unorthodox. He went against the accepted rules of the Pharisees and it aggravated them to the point of wanting Him crucified.. Jesus did not come to conform but to transform.

Renewed in Grace
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
2. Luke 24:13–36
13 And behold, two of them were going that very
day to a village named Emmaus, which was about
seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they were
talking with each other about all these things
which had taken place. 15 While they were talking
and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and
began traveling with them. 16 But their eyes were
prevented from recognizing Him.
3. 17 And He said to them, “What are these words
that you are exchanging with one another as you
are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18
One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said
to Him, “Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem
and unaware of the things which have happened
here in these days?” 19 And He said to them,
“What things?” And they said to Him, “The things
about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet
mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and
all the people, 20 and how the chief priests
4. and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of
death, and crucified Him. 21 “But we were hoping
that it was He who was going to redeem Israel.
Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since
these things happened. 22 “But also some women
among us amazed us. When they were at the
tomb early in the morning, 23 and did not find His
body, they came, saying that they had also seen a
vision of angels who said that He was alive. 24
“Some of those who were with us went to the
tomb and found it just exactly as the women
5. also had said; but Him they did not see.” 25 And
He said to them, “O foolish men and slow of heart
to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26
“Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer
these things and to enter into His glory?” 27 Then
beginning with Moses and with all the prophets,
He explained to them the things concerning
Himself in all the Scriptures. 28 And they
approached the village where they were going,
and He acted as though He were going farther.
6. 29 But they urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it
is getting toward evening, and the day is now
nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them. 30
When He had reclined at the table with them, He
took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He
began giving it to them. 31 Then their eyes were
opened and they recognized Him; and He
vanished from their sight. 32 They said to one
another, “Were not our hearts burning within us
while He was speaking to us on the road, while He
was explaining the Scriptures to us?”
7. 33 And they got up that very hour and returned to
Jerusalem, and found gathered together the
eleven and those who were with them, 34 saying,
“The Lord has really risen and has appeared to
Simon.” 35 They began to relate their experiences
on the road and how He was recognized by them
in the breaking of the bread. 36 While they were
telling these things, He Himself stood in their
midst and said to them, “Peace be to you.”
9. A seven mile trip

25. Isaiah 53:1–12
1 Who has believed our message? And to whom
has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For He
grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a
root out of parched ground; He has no stately
form or majesty That we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to
Him. 3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A
man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
26. And like one from whom men hide their face He
was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4
Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our
sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed
Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But
He was pierced through for our transgressions, He
was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for
our well-being fell upon Him, And by His
scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep
have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his
own way; But the LORD has caused
27. the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. 7 He was
oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not
open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to
slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its
shearers, So He did not open His mouth. 8 By
oppression and judgment He was taken away;
And as for His generation, who considered That
He was cut off out of the land of the living For the
transgression of my people, to whom the stroke
was due? 9 His grave was assigned with wicked
men,
28. Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because
He had done no violence, Nor was there any
deceit in His mouth. 10 But the LORD was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would
render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His
offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good
pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. 11 As
a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it
and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous
One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will
bear their iniquities.
29. 12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the
great, And He will divide the booty with the
strong; Because He poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He
Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for
the transgressors.
30. Jesus looking for an
invitation
And they
approached the
village where they
were going, and He
acted as though He
were going farther.
31. Jesus opens spiritually blind eyes
When He had reclined at the table with them, He
took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He
began giving it to them. Then their eyes were
opened and they recognized Him; and He
vanished from their sight.
32. This was and is the ministry of Jesus
Luke 4:18–19…THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO
THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE
CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET
FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE
FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.
