• White-collar crime is a nonviolent crime committed for financial gain. According to the FBI, a key agency
that investigates these offenses, "these crimes are characterized by deceit, concealment, or violation of
trust." The motivation for these crimes is "to obtain or avoid losing money, property, or services or to
secure a personal or business advantage."

3. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WHITE COLLAR
CRIME?
• They are fraud, insider trading, Ponzi scheme,
embezzlement, counterfeiting, money
laundering, espionage.
4. IS WHITE COLLAR CRIME REALLY A THING IN PNG?
It is happening in PNG, as there have been
numerous cases that appear publicly. The publicly
rumored cases that often make headlines is cases
of members that usually come under allegation. On
my opinion I think white collar crime has become
an entrenched culture that seems to be normal for
people to commit in PNG once they reach higher
levels of position where they have vested power.
5. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO STOP THIS CRIME:
• Government should pass tougher laws on the
punishment of white collar crimes with
minimum of 50 years for all this crimes.
• Companies and government agencies should
screen employees.
• Use powerful software's to track employee
activities.
