This document summarizes a dissertation that examines the effectiveness of using an online community platform and e-drive resources to enhance the quality of post-16 English education. The study collected data through online questionnaires and interviews with students and teachers. The research found that the online community helped students engage with material outside of class and communicate asynchronously, but that the Google+ platform was only marginally useful and notifications on smartphones were not popular. Overall, students valued access to online resources but responses to the online community were mixed. The dissertation concludes more research is needed, such as longitudinal studies, to further validate the findings.
