6. Disseny(s)
combina el sentit crític, creativitat i sentit pràctic
(Manzini 2014)
7. Disseny(s)
Double Diamont, Design Council (2005)
16. Impacte
Design’s supports policy to better engage with the publics to whom it is
accountable, to go beyond existing ways of doing things and to introduce
new objects and practices of knowledge (Kimbell 2016).
Design’s contribution is in expanding the validity of reasoning modes, following a
situated and abductive rather than deductive logic that is based upon design
promoting the immersion themselves in thickly experiential policy contexts (Mc
Gann 2018)
18. La pràctica
As Junginer (2013) puts it, there is a lack of detailed descriptions of “the actual
activities of designing that bring policies into being—of how people involved in
the creation of policies go about identifying design problems and design
criteria, about the methods they employ in their design process” (p. 3).
“By rebalancing the focus to recognise the cognitive processes and skills at work
in policymaking — goal emergence, pattern recognition, anticipation, emotions
engagement, fabulation, playfulness, and risk protection — we can create a
more sophisticated account of the policy specialist as designer.” (Bailey 2018)
21. Expansió epistemològica i polítiques dels mètodes
Blomkamp (2018) builds on this notion of epistemological challenge using
Sanders (2014) three main types of techniques for co-design: telling, enacting
and making, saying that design expands “the deliberative policy-making ideals
of communicative rationality and discourse ethics, which assume that policy
problems can be solved through an open, rational and cognitive discussion
(Gottweis 2007, 238–39; Mclaverty and Halpin 2008)”.
“The current anthropology of prefiguration [...] built on collaboration,
provisionality, recycling, experimentation and creativity” creates space for
design. There is little at present that attempts to contextualize or critique the
development [of policy design] as a symptom of underlying social, political or
economic currents [...], the broader political project they might participate in, in
sum, a lack of reflexivity and criticality.” (Bailey 2017)
