This document provides instructions for writing a discussion essay, which presents arguments for and against a topic before stating an opinion. It recommends choosing the strongest arguments from research, organizing the essay into an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting each side, and a conclusion stating the opinion. Useful language is also outlined to introduce ideas, contrast them, give examples, and state an opinion.

2.  In a discussion essay you write about two sides
of a topic/ subject before giving your opinion.
 Steps to follow:
 Do some research or think about what you know
about the topic.
 Choose the strongest arguments for and against it
 Decide what your opinion is and write it ONLY in
the conclusion.

3. Structure
 Introduction:
 Paragraph 1: Introduce the topic briefly.
 Body:
 Paragraph 2: Arguments for the topic.
 Paragraph 3: Arguments against the topic.
(Give the same amount of arguments to keep it balanced and include
examples to support your views).
 Conclusion
 Paragraph 4: Write a conclusion including your
opinion.
