About Me
"a group of Internet-based applications that build on the
ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and
that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated
content.”
                      Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein
"When you focus on where the customer value intersects
with the business value … that's the core of being
successful in social media.”
                                           Richard Margetic
Social Business
“In brief: Social business draws on trends in technology
(e.g., powerful mobile devices, widespread availability of
high-speed Internet access, low cost of data storage), work
(e.g., always-on culture, globalization), and society
(e.g., propensity to share)… The core principles touch on
all areas of a business, whether for business-to-customer
engagement, employee-to-employee collaboration, or
supply chain optimization. Making social business work
requires focus on a company’s
culture, connections, content exchanges, and
measurement and analytics.”
                                                    Peter Kim
Social Government
Social Government draws on trends in
technology, work, and society… The core principles touch
on all areas of a business, whether for government-to-
citizen engagement or employee-to-employee
collaboration. Making social government work requires
focus on an agencies' culture, connections, content
exchanges, and measurement and analytics.

Transforming public engagement through social media

Editor's Notes

  • #6 Richard Margetic – Director of Global Social Media at Dell.
  • #7 Peter is Chief Solutions Architect at Dachis Group.
  • #9 Martha Lane Fox, the UK Digital Champion, has published a report Directgov 2010 and Beyond: Revolution Not Evolution that calls for radical improvement to Government internet services to provide higher quality and more convenient 24/7 services to users. In her report to the Minister of the Cabinet Office she argues that as well as delivering better services for citizens, shifting 30% of government service delivery contracts to digital channels has the potential to deliver gross annual savings of more than £1.3 billion, rising to £2.2 billion if 50% of contacts shifted to digital.
  • #10 Gov.UK successor to directgov – open source and the Kiwis are using it for their new WOG site
  • #11 The more things change the more they stay the same…Still have to deal with pressure groups, reporting analytics and getting the community involved
  • #12 Involve
