This document discusses three common digestive system diseases: food allergies, ulcers, and heartburn. Food allergies cause the immune system to react to certain foods, resulting in symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, swelling of the lips and mouth, and in rare cases anaphylaxis. Ulcers are sores in the stomach or duodenum caused by bacterial infections or acidic stomach environments that damage the stomach lining, causing abdominal pain and bleeding. Heartburn is a painful burning sensation in the chest caused by stomach acid backing up into the esophagus, which can damage the esophagus if left untreated.
