5. Know about valentine’s day !
In all English-speaking countries, February
14th is a special day for people in love. It’s
not a holiday, but is a very good day for
flower shops and card shops. Noboby knows
much about St. Valentine. One story is that
he was a Christian priest and was put to
death on February 14th by Roman soldiers .
According to the legend, he used to marry
young lovers secretly against Roman law
which ordered young men to go to war.

6. Another theory is that February 14th was
chosen because birds traditionally began to
mate on that day.
February 15th used to be a Roman holiday
in honour of the Roman god Lupercus. To
celebrate it young women used to write love
notes and put them in na urn. Then the
young men would take each one and begin
to court the woman of the note. The catholic
Church joined this holiday with st.
Valentine’s day, on February 14th.

7. On this day, children write their
names on cards with hearts on
them, and give them to their
classmates and teachers. Usually
every classroom in America in a
school gave a box with an opening
on the top where children can mail
their cards, decorated with pictures
of hearts, cupids and arrows.

8. Teenagers and adults give cards, presents
and flowers to their boyfriends,girlfriends,
husbands and wives, or to someone whom
they have fallen in love with.
People usually do not sign these cards and a
lot of time is spent in trying to guess who
has sent them! Nowadays, not only
husbands, wives, boyfriends and girfriends,
but also grandparents, cousins, friends or
even acquaintaces take the occasion to
express their affection for each other by
sending a Valentine card.

9. The tradition of Valentine’s Day
is the tradition of love.
Celebrating it in many ways is
custum tha brings happiness
into the lives of many people. It
is a day for fantasy and caprice
, and for the confession of
tender emocion.
