Memorables of Dewang Mehta Excellence Award - 2016

“Dewang Mehta” the man who presented Indian software industry to the world, the man who laid the foundation to
the software industry in India, the tags are enumerable. In memory of Late Mr. Dewang Mehta, The Dewang Mehta
Foundation catalouges various initiatives to acknowledge the students in the IT sector. The Dewang Mehta Excellence
Award is one such initiative where students with excellent academic performance are recognized. Inspiria was proud
to host the Dewang Mehta Excellence Award 2016 Siliguri with Nasscom the premier organization that represents and
sets the tone for public policy for the Indian software industry.
The aim of the Dewang Mehta Foundation was to cover the whole of North Bengal to appreciate the performance of
the students. The awards were presented to all the second, third and fourth year Engineering students from the field of
Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical and Information Technology.
The event commenced with the welcome speech by Mr.Nirupam Chaudhuri (Regional Head EAST – NASSCOM)
followed by the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Krishnakumar Natarajan (Executive Chairman, Mindtree), Mr.
P. Sriganesh (Trustee DMft), Mr. Kamal Agarwala (Chairman - NASSCOM ERPC), Mr. Nirupam Chaudhuri (Regional
Head EAST - NASSCOM), Mr. Atul Gupta (Managing Trustee - Inspiria Knowledge Campus). The cultural team of Inspiria
Knowledge Campus showcased their talent with a prayer song, dance on Ganesha vandana and a contemporary dance
invoking the blessing of God.
A workshop on Communication was also organised as it is the need of the hour for the success of any professional. Mr.
T. Chendil Kumar ,Chief Catalyst – CK Consultants, conducted the workshop on Communicate to Connect.
A video on the life of Mr.Dewang Mehta and a note about him by Mr. P. Sriganesh (Trustee DMFT) was amazing, it
gave an enlightening view into the great personalities life and vision. This was followed by the Dewang Mehta Memorial
Lecture by Mr. Krishnakumar Natarajan (Executive Chairman, Mindtree). Mr. Krishnakumar Natarajan in his memorial
lecture spoke about Nasscom and its impact in the IT industry.
The toppers of about 20 colleges from the North Bengal region was awarded by Mr. Krishnakumar Natarajan (Executive
Chairman, Mindtree). The toppers of Inspiria Knowledge Campus were also given certificate of merit by the chief guest.
A full scholarship student of BCA at Inspiria Knowledge Campus was given his scholarship certificate at the event.
It also witnessed the Business Plan Competition where aspiring student entrepreneurs competed with each other and
displayed their business models.
The event came to its close with a note from Mr.Atul Gupta (Managing Trustee - Inspiria Knowledge Campus).

At Inspiria we believe in employability and this can be attained by gaining knowledge. Ac-
knowledging the young generation for what they do will always motivate them to reach
greater heights was the motive of the event. “Dewang Mehta”, a man who revolutionised the
IT industry in India is the most apt icon who can represent success.So awarding a group of
young students in the IT field in memory of Late Mr.Dewang Mehta is an honour.
