DEVELOPMENTAL ANOMALIES OF JAWS MICROGNATHIA MICROGNATHIA:SMALL JAW. 1.True micrognathia 2.Apparent micrognathia In this case mandible is underdeveloped. It giving a BIRD FACIES APPEARANCE. AGNATHIA A:Absence , Gnathia:jaw, Absence of maxilla /mandible In maxilla: maxillary process/premaxilla, In mandible:ramus,condyle Unilateral ramus missing(due to faliure of migration of neural crest mesenchyme into maxillary prominence) MACROGNATHIA Abnormally large jaws Pituitary gigantisetm:both jaws large Maxillary enlargement:peget’s disease,cherubism Mandibular enlargement:acromrgaly Treatment:surgical correction. Due to acromegaly. bbbb FACIAL HEMIHYPERTROPHY Hyper trophy of soft and hard tissue. T/t:cosmetic surgery. Periodic ultra sound and MRI unilateral enlarge- ment FACIAL HEMIATROPHY Othername :PARRY ROMBERG SYNDROME Slowly progressive atrophy of the soft tissue of essentially half of face . Wasting of subcutaneous fat may spread one sie of neck & body . MANDIBLE ABSENT SK AZIZ IKBAL DEPARTMENT OF ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY NORTH BENGAL DENTAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
