More and more international companies are turning towards the developing world and the flow of private capital has increased during the past 10 years. Development cooperation agencies like Sida is seeking cooperation with the private sector to leverage the financial support from development assistance with private capital and to make business actors contribute to the goals of development cooperation. This presentation will describe the different instruments Sida uses for cooperation with the private sector and give some examples of ongoing projects. It will also describe how Sida supports capacity development within ICT4D.

Sir Lutaf Ali Mangrio is a renowned Pakistani development practitioner and activist who promotes participatory rural development and community participation. He established HANDS Institute of Community Development, Pakistan's largest network of capacity building institutions for social development. Sir Mangrio designed over 200 training programs, both national and international, training thousands of professionals. His vision was for a just, equitable and tolerant society and he strived to reform the state to better serve marginalized citizens through his leadership at HANDS Institute of Community Development.

Creative and Innovative Developmental Organization (CIDO) focuses on humanitarian and development responses in Chitral and Upper Dir. Over the past two decades, the concept of Institutional Development and Organizational Strengthening (IDOS) has become increasingly important for development projects. During the reporting period, CIDO formed and strengthened 1597 village organizations representing 80,135 men and 55,276 women, with a total membership of 135,411 people, of which 85,264 are poor. GDP Growth and its Importance
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) consists of consumer spending, investment expenditure, government spending and net exports hence it portrays an all-inclusive picture of an economy because of which it provides an insight to investors which highlights the trend of the economy by comparing GDP levels as an index. It is used as an indicator for most governments and economic decision-makers for planning and policy formulation. In case of GDP, each component is given the weight of its relative price. GDP helps the investors to manage their portfolios by providing them with guidance about the state of the economy. Calculation of GDP provides with the general health of the economy. A negative GDP growth portrays bad signals for the economy. When the economy is expanding, the GDP growth rate is positive. If it's growing, so will businesses, jobs and personal income. If the GDP growth rate turns negative, then the country's economy is in a recession. It is not a measure of the overall standard of living or well-being of a country. Although changes in the output of goods and services per person (GDP per capita) are often used as a measure of whether the average citizen in a country is better or worse off, it does not capture things that may be deemed important to general well-being. Without an increase in GDP, there are always going to be limitations to economic development.

A negative GDP growth portrays bad signals for the economy. When the economy is expanding, the GDP growth rate is positive. If it's growing, so will businesses, jobs and personal income. If the GDP growth rate turns negative, then the country's economy is in a recession. It is not a measure of the overall standard of living or well-being of a country. Although changes in the output of goods and services per person (GDP per capita) are often used as a measure of whether the average citizen in a country is better or worse off, it does not capture things that may be deemed important to general well-being. Without an increase in GDP, there are always going to be limitations to economic development.

Hence, the pace of construction has increased by 93 . "Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. Development • Simply all the series of positive changes from micro to macro level is known as development. • Development is relative and ongoing process. • Development is not purely an economic phenomenon but rather a multi- dimensional process involving re-organization and re-orientation of entire economic and social system. • Development is multi dimensional process. • Initially, economic growth or development was taken to be development by some economists. But, economic development is only one of the dimensions of development. • Other dimensions of development include socio-cultural development, human development, environmental development, geo-political development and technological development.

The group includes small scale farmers, tenants and landless”. • And according to Singh(1999), Rural development is “the process leading to sustainable improvement in the quality of life of rural people especially the poor”.
