Let us bow in silence and feel the holy
presence of the Lord
Greetings
So! Good morning class!
Classroom Management
Before we jump right into our discussion
kindly please sit up properly and please
make sure you have your IDs on.
(Everyone will bow their head as the
teacher leads the morning prayer)
Good morning Sir!
So how are you guys doing during the
weekend? Did you do something
productive?
Oh that`s great, resting is still a
productive thing to do not just for our
bodies but for our minds as well. Always
remember that guys.
Attendance
Now so much for that, and by the way
before I forget. Do we have any
absentees? Ms. President?
Wow! That`s great to hear! Thank you
Ms. President.
Now, did I gave you an assignment last
Friday in our meeting?
Are you sure about that guys?
Very well then.
No Sir. We just took some rest during
the weekend.
Thank you sir!
None Sir. Everyone is present sir.
None Sir.
Yes Sir.
Recall
Before we begin to our new lesson let us
first have a short recap of what we
discussed last Friday. Can anyone share
what it is that we discussed last meeting?
Ok very nice Mr. Estapia and may you
dictate what are those?
Wow! You surely studied your notes very
well. Keep it up!
Now without looking on your note, can
someone please tell me what it means
when we say “informative essay”, in your
own words please. Mr. Fabregas.
Very well said! That is a wonderful
explanation and also an easy way to
explain what an informative essay is all
about. Thank you for your answer.
Now how about narrative essay? Anyone
from the class? Mr. Bulacan.
Last meeting Sir, we discussed about
different types of essays.
Sir, those are informative, narrative,
persuasive essay and many more.
Thank you sir.
Sir Informative essay is basically a
type of essay which conveys
information that the writer wants to
share about.
Thank you sir!
Sir, narrative essay refers to writing
about an experience where you learned
something about yourself.
Very well said Mr. Bulacan, do you have
any questions or clarifications?
Is everything clear guys?
B. Motivation
Very well then people, I have prepared a
game for you. I have prepared some
jumbled words for you to arrange and let
us see who will be able to arrange it
correctly.
These word corresponds to a phrase or
phrases which are often used in
persuasive writing.
20 points will be added to the activity
total of the first group who accomplishes
this task. Is it clear?
So the mechanics will be like this. I will
be dividing you into three groups. A
group representative will pick a number
and a corresponding set of words will be
given after choosing. May the group
representatives stand up and pick one?
None sir.
Yes sir.
Yes Sir!
(Representatives of each group picks
up a piece of paper with their
respective numbers.)
Ok so now that you have your groups,
here are the small envelopes containing
the words that you need to arrange.
Is everything clear?
You have 3 minutes to do this good luck!
Are you done? So these are the correct
arrangements of the words that I gave
you.
Group 1
Correct answers: With this in mind, as a
result of, because of this, for this reason,
in conclusion.
Group 2
Correct answer: On the other hand,
nevertheless, despite, conversely, instead
Group 3
Correct answer: furthermore,
additionally, besides that, similarly,
likewise,
Yes Sir.
(Each group will arrange the words in
the best way possible)
C. Lesson Proper
So, you all did a good job. I had a lot of
fun reading your ideas. Did you enjoy the
activity?
Let us congratulate group 2 on landing
the closest arrangement of words.
But don`t worry guys, I will give this
activity to you. I`ll give 20 points for
group 2 and 15 points for the rest of you
guys.
So based on the lines that I showed you
what can you say about it?
That is one good observation, thank you.
So today I as I have said earlier in the
instruction, these words are used in
persuasive writing.
Have you ever encountered or heard
about persuasive writing?
Yes sir!
Thank you so much sir!
In relation with our topic last Friday,
these lines sir are used in different
types of essays.
Yes, sir.
Umm, sir persuasive writing is used to
convince someone to take your point
or side.
Very well then, can you please share your
idea regarding persuasive writing?
Ok, we`ll see as our discussion takes on
later. Thank you, you may now take your
seat.
So now, Persuasive Writing, Persuasive
writing is used to convince or persuade a
reader that the writer’s opinion of a topic
or cause is correct. When writing
persuasive essays students need to be
well versed in word selection, framing
logical arguments and creating a strong
cohesive closing argument.
Is that clear? Do you have any questions?
By the way guys, don`t worry I will be
giving you the copy of this power point
presentation.
Now to deepen your understanding we
will tackle its parts, so basically you must
have and introduction, body and
conclusion just like essays. But what
differs here would be the content and the
words and phrases that you might or will
use. Understood?
None sir.
Yes, Sir.
So as for the introduction, this is where
you will state a two to three sentence of
your point or stand or opinion.
For example. “Rexona is such a great
deodorant, this is the number one
deodorant.”
Let us say that this is your stand that
Rexona is the number one deodorant.
Now we will use the body to provide
supporting details why you claim such
stand. For the body, you can use the
phrases “furthermore, on top of that,
instead, according to” These phrases
could be used to support your claim, this
must include facts and opinions
supporting your claim. Which was
“Rexona is the number one deodorant”
Is that clear for everybody?
Now for the conclusion this is where you
will restate your claim to establish your
point once more or why they should
consider your side or agree with your
claim. Is that clear for everybody?
In writing a persuasive essay you must
remember this:
O – Opinion (stating your stand or
feeling regarding a certain topic)
Yes sir!
Yes, Sir!
R – Reason (provide reasons or facts to
support your stand or opinion)
E – Examples (give additional examples
to further support your claim)
O – Opinion (restating your opinion once
more to seal a cohesive conclusion)
Now class here are some words you could
use in persuasive writing.
Will someone please read this?
Yes Mr. Rodriguez
Phrases to Illustrate a Point: For instance,
for example, specifically, in particular,
namely, such as, like
Phrases to Introduce an Example: For
example, thus, as an example, in the
instance of, in other words, to illustrate
Phrases to Make Suggestions: To this
end, keeping this in mind, for this
purpose, therefore
Phrases to Transition Between
Information: Also, furthermore,
additionally, besides that, equally as
(Student reads the given words and
phrases)
(Student reads the given words and
phrases)
(Student reads the given words and
phrases)
important, similarly, likewise, as a result,
otherwise, however
Phrases to Contrast Points: On the other
hand, nevertheless, despite, in spite of,
yet, conversely, instead, by the same
token
Phrases for Conclusions and
Summarizing: With this in mind, as a
result of, because of this, for this reason,
so, due to, since, finally, in short, in
conclusion
So is Everything Clear?
So now I have a question to ask? How is
this kind of writing helpful in your future
career? Any guesses?
Yes, Ms. Lasota
Ok! That`s a great idea, Anyone else?
Yes, Ms. Delgado?
(Student reads the given words and
phrases)
(Student reads the given words and
phrases)
(Student reads the given words and
phrases)
Yes, Sir!
Sir, I think this type of writing helps us
future teachers to convince and give
emphasis to our point that we want
students to absorb or understand
Thank you for your answers and yes they
are correct!
Now if some of you are still wondering
what is the relation or importance of this
type of writing, here`s why:
Effective Persuasive Writing leads to
boosting of morale, encourages your
audience to agree to what you are sying,
leave a visible impact on what you want
to convey towards your audience.
Is everything clear?
D. Application
So now let us see what had you truly
understood in our discussion for today.
Now I will give you a graded activity. I
will divide you in 5 groups, and each
group must come up with a creative way
to showcase the application of persuasive
writing you may use Skits, Role plays,
Radio Broadcasting, Commercials and
any other way you can think of.
This would be the criteria for this
activity:
Sir, additional to what Ms. Lasota said,
I think an effective persuasive essay
helps one easily get the favor of the
one they want to persuade.
Yes sir.
This will be presented for our next
meeting because I don`t think that we
have enough time left.
Any clarifications regarding the activity?
E. Generalization
So now may I ask what is a Persuasive
Essay?
What are the parts of a Persuasive Essay?
Very nice! Now can you site few phrases
or words that are commonly used in
Persuasive Writing?

Effectiveness of 20 points
Persuation
Uniqueness- 15 points
Clarity- 25 points
Total: 80 points
