This document provides instructions for changing a student's secret question and answer for their DET Portal login. It recommends choosing a question only the student would know the answer to, such as details about family or past events. Example questions are provided. The document also notes that the secret question answer should be different than the password and must be typed consistently. Instructions are given for accessing the "Change My DET User ID Password" link and entering the new secret question answer.

2. Make sure you know how to spell the
answer, and make sure that you type it in
the same way each time. https://portal.det.nsw.edu.au
For example, if you choose the question
“:My favourite sport” and you type your
answer as “rugby” with no capitals, you
cannot later on type it as “Rugby” with a
capital “R”, as the system won’t recognise
it as being the same word.
