• We drive around the community and

the activity to keep people engaged
(leaderboard, check-in, prizes)

There’s disconnection, but there are some values they all share – Good Food, and a sense of community
So how should we gap the disconnection between these 3 entities? We started with the gap between parents and program providers by testing a prototype to improve communication between parents and program providers.
A major flaw with this was we found it was difficult for adults to share their feelings without having established trust. Kids were more open to sharing, so we decided to try a different approach: to address rogram providers and kids
Our idea was a trading post that trades unhealthy snacks for fruits. By replacing the bad with good, we hoped that the trading post could help program providers see that kids eat well also outside of the Y. The trading post was very well received by kids and adults, specifically the TRADING element was especially exciting. Herardo is happy that he got two oranges with his snack. This man is saying good bye to his bag of cheetos. So how can we improve the trading post so that we could bridge all the gaps?
We took a step back and realized that there’s something that all three entities share in common.
They wall want good Food and a crave sense of community. How do we create a sense of community with our trading post? How do we reach a wide audience with the trading? How do we make the trading sustainable so people will keep coming?
We really wanted to focus on a few key issues: How do we create a sense of community with the trading post? How do we reach a broader audience of all ages with the trading? How do we make the trading sustainable and consistently exciting so people keep coming? And this is how our solution emerged….
