Team and Leadership Lessons Learned
            Facing Death,
             at 8,000 feet
(1) Carpe diem – seize the day
    … we cannot guarantee tomorrow
… thank Goodness I told Bruce of my love

(2) Tragedies are potential blessings
… (Emerson) “God sends us gifts wrapped as problems. The bigger
the problem, the bigger the gift.”
… we choose to be bitter or better

                                       (3) Leadership is a state of mind;
it is a disposition, not a position.
      Opportunities It’s a thought-choice, not title.

“Five Seconds at a Time” Principle

 Step back, to step forward
 The principle breaks seemingly
  insurmountable challenges into
  smaller, more manageable ones
 I am not saying I stayed in -
  30°C temperatures for 8 hours
  …
  I couldn’t do that ….
 Stayed in -30°C temperatures
  Opportunities
  for 5 seconds …
  5,760 times.

Power of Vision
 “Where there is no vision, people perish.”
 An obstacle is that which you see when you take your
  eyes off the vision.
 Liu Chi Kung (second to Van Cliburn in the 1958
Tchaikovsky Competition) was imprisoned for 7 years
1959-1966 during the cultural revolution in China.
 On a daily basis he practiced envisioning
  techniques.
 “I practiced every day. I rehearsed every
