LET’S BEGIN
THE LESSON!
PROPER HOUSEKEEPING
AND SAFETY PRACTICES
(RAC SERVICING)
Signs, Symbols and Data
in Electrical Installation
Maintenance.
Objectives.
At the end of the lesson, the students
should be able to:
• Analyze signs, electrical symbols
and data
• Read and interpret electrical signs,
symbols and data
• Analyze electrical components and
materials based on electrical signs,
symbols and data
WHEN YOU HEAR THE
WORD SIGNS AND
ELECTRICAL
SYMBOLS, WHAT
COMES FIRST INTO
YOUR MIND?
What do you observe in the pictures?
Electrical symbols
- Are pictograms that represent
the different electrical devices in
an electrical wiring diagram.
- It is also use in drawing and
interpreting electrical plans
Electrical Wring Diagram
1. Conductor/ Wire
- Use to connect
components in a circuit
2. Connected wire
3.Wire not connected
4. Switch
- a device for making and
breaking the connection in an
electrical circuit
5. Push button
- a push button switch is a
type of switch consist of a
simple electric mechanism or
air switch mechanism to turn
something on or off
6. Fuse
-a fuse is an electrical safety
device that operates to
provide overcurrent
protection of an electrical
circuit.
7. Cell
- a single unit of device which
converts chemical energy to
electrical energy. It is usually
light and compact as it has a
8. Battery
- Consist of a group of
cell
9. Duplex Convenience
outlet
- a receptacle in a wall
or baseboard for
connection to lamps or
other electrical
10. Weatherproof outlet
- an outlet designed for
installation outside the
home.
11. Floor Outlet
-an electrical outlet whose
face in level with or
recessed on the floor
12. Male Plug
- an electrical device
with two or three
pins that is inserted
in a socket to make
an electrical
connection
13. Incandescent Lamp
- Incandescent lamp, electricity
runs through a wire inside the
bulb and heats it up. When it's
hot enough, it glows
14. Fluorescent Lamp
-A fluorescent light bulb uses
gas inside the bulb to light up:
when electricity runs through it, it
excites a mixture of gases,
which are transformed into light.
15. Resistor
- Reduces or limits
the flow of current
16. Capacitor
-Use to store
electrical charge
17. Galvanometer
-an electromechanical
measuring instrument
for electric current
18. Wattmeter
-an instrument for
measuring the electric
power in watts in a
circuit.
19. Antenna
- an electrical device
which converts
power into radio
waves and vice
versa
CLASS WHAT COMES
FIRST INTO YOUR
MIND WHEN YOU
SEE THIS PICTURES?
Electrical Signs
- intended to alert and instruct
people to avoid potentially
hazardous condition.
- Knowing and understanding
these electrical signs will help
you operate your tools better
and more safely.
1. Safety alert
-indicates that a person
should observe extra
awareness
2. Caution
-indicates some
precautionary measures
against potential hazardous
situation which, if not
avoided, may result to a
minor or moderate injury.
3. Danger
-indicates a hazardous
situation which, if not
avoided, will result in a
death or serious injury.
4. Warning
-indicates a potential
hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, could result
in death or serious injury.
5. Safety Instructions
- sign indicates specific
safety-related
instruction or
procedures.
6. Electrical Hazard
-indicates that electrical
hazard is present in the
area
7.Voltage danger
-indicates high voltage in
the area and surrounding
equipment
8. Voltage Danger Read
and Understand
Instruction Manual
-means that a person
should make some reading
before doing any activity
9. Wear Eye protection
- indicates that a person
should wear safety
goggles or any related
protection for the eyes.
10. Wear appropriate
eye protection, hearing
protection, and
respiratory protection.
Summary!!!
Recap!!!
” Can you draw at least 3
symbols you have learned in
the discussion and also state
the name of the symbols.”
“What is the importance
of different electrical
Signs?”
Recap!!!
Performance Task/ Individual
Activity
Direction: Students will create a
“flyers” about the awareness and
importance of using signs and
symbols in electrical installation
and maintenance. Grades will be
based from the rubrics provided
below.
