Delegation involves stages where tasks are assigned to others. When delegating, make sure to clearly define expectations, provide oversight to ensure tasks are completed correctly, and thank the person for taking on extra responsibilities.
Delegation is a fundamental aspect of a manager's job that involves transferring responsibility for a task or activity to another individual while retaining accountability for the outcome. Effective delegation involves determining the task, assessing competencies, deciding on needed supervision and authority levels. There are six principles and four basic steps to delegation including selecting a capable person, explaining the task, giving authority and maintaining contact. Key considerations for delegation include the potential for harm, required problem solving, and predictability of outcomes. The nurse retains responsibility for supervision and accountability in the delegation process.
This document discusses the concept of delegation in nursing. It defines delegation as assigning specific tasks to workers with authority to perform jobs. The document outlines the objectives of understanding delegation and compares direct and indirect delegation. It identifies the five rights of delegation and reasons for delegating. Common delegation errors like underdelegating and overdelegating are explained. The roles of licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel are defined. Considerations for effective delegation like cultural factors, barriers, and evaluation are also addressed.
This document discusses centralization and decentralization in organizations. It begins by defining centralization as reserving authority at a central point within an organization, with control and decision-making residing at the top levels of management. It then discusses various types and prerequisites of decentralization, as well as factors that determine the extent of centralization within an organization.
The document outlines advantages of both centralization and decentralization. Centralization allows for singular control and faster decision-making in urgent situations, while decentralization reduces the burden on top executives, avoids red tape, and promotes initiative and development of managerial talents in subordinates. It also distinguishes between delegation and decentralization.
This document discusses effective delegation and supervision in healthcare. It notes changes in staffing patterns with fewer RNs and more nursing assistive personnel. This forces RNs to delegate more tasks due to economic necessity. The document defines delegation as transferring responsibility for a task while retaining accountability. It discusses guidelines for determining what can and cannot be delegated based on state laws, patient needs, staff competencies, policies, and professional standards. It provides tips for RNs to develop safe delegation practices such as knowing these guidelines, the patient, staff, task, providing training, supervision, evaluation, and avoiding high-risk delegation.
Delegation refers to assigning authority and responsibility to another person, normally from a manager to a subordinate, to carry out specific tasks. There are three essential aspects of delegation: assignment of duties, granting of authority, and creating accountability. Effective delegation involves selecting the right person, task, communication, supervision, and circumstances. Both the delegator and delegatee have responsibilities to ensure tasks are properly communicated, carried out, and evaluated.
Delegation of authority, responsibility and DecntralizationRajan Neupane
This document discusses authority, responsibility, and delegation of authority. It defines authority as the legitimate right to direct others and make decisions. Responsibility refers to the obligation to complete assigned tasks. There is a relationship between authority and responsibility - authority should match the level of responsibility. Authority flows downward while responsibility flows upward. Delegation involves transferring authority to subordinates while retaining accountability. The document provides guidance on what should and should not be delegated, and how to delegate effectively. It also discusses decentralization, which widely distributes authority and decision-making power throughout an organization.
This document discusses nursing delegation, including defining delegation as transferring responsibility for performing tasks from one person to another. It outlines principles of delegation such as assigning duties according to expected results. The document also discusses strategies for effective delegation, the five rights of delegation, the delegation process, common delegation errors, and advantages and disadvantages of delegation.

It emphasizes that most water and air pollution is caused by human activities. The document concludes by discussing solutions to pollution and providing examples of evidence of global warming.
Behavior can be defined as the acts of individuals in making decisions to spend resources on goods and services. Understanding consumer behavior and what motivates customer purchases is an important part of marketing. Businesses research questions like who buys products, how and where they buy, and why, in order to understand what influences customer decisions and better meet their needs. Consumer decisions are affected by social, cultural, personal and psychological factors.
Financial management involves acquiring the necessary financing for a business from sources that provide funds at minimal cost. It helps improve profitability through effective use of funds and strong financial controls like budgeting, ratio analysis, and cost-volume-profit analysis.
The document discusses employment contracts, noting that they legally bind an employee and employer through agreement on terms and conditions of employment after determining a match between job requirements and candidate qualifications. An employment contract specifies details like pay, benefits, work nature, leaves, procedures, and schedules. It can take written, oral, or implied forms and provides advantages like control and protection for companies but also challenges like re-negotiation.
The document discusses models of communication, which are conceptual models used to explain the human communication process. It describes some key models, including Aristotle's model which focused on the audience's role, and Berlo's SMCR model, which views communication as involving a source, message, channel, and receiver. The document also notes that information theory takes a mechanical approach focused on how clearly information is communicated, regardless of the content.
Proxemics is the study of how people use physical space and what it reveals about them. People establish an invisible boundary between themselves and others known as their personal feature space. This personal feature space refers to the distance people feel comfortable having between themselves and others.
This document discusses self-efficacy, which refers to an individual's belief in their own ability to complete tasks and achieve goals. It is measured by one's sense of competence and control over their own actions. The document outlines both advantages, like increased accomplishment and willingness to try new things, and disadvantages, such as failure leading to lost faith in one's abilities. Self-efficacy affects many life domains and is developed from past successes and failures as well as messages from others.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
