This is a very striking
picture, it gives us an idea of The use of colour connotes horror
what the whole movie is which is useful for the target
about and his face gives us audience. As red connoted death and
the impression of possibly blood it su)ests that there is
death due to the blood. something to do with death and blood
in the film. This fo%ows the
conventions of the genre horror as it is
                                               related to death.
Not only this, the use of black
contrasts to the red and therefore
stands out a lot drawing us into the
poster. This is a good tip if trying to
                                        attract your target audience.
                    Release Date

The title is very bold and stands out
a lot. This is very useful as the target
audience want to try and relate
what the narrative of the movie may
                                             be against the title.
The use of this picture is very bold

                          Striking image, use of documentary
 Tag line, making you
style image. Its also as if someone is

draws the target watching them, which conforms to
audience in. Also as the genre horror.
its a question it makes
your target audience
  seem involved and
part of the film. Title, in bold red, which connotes
blood, fear and death which is
                                  associated with horror.

   Main striking image, it give
      the target audience a
narrative already showing Website (extra information)
    what the film is possibly
              about.
Bold title, again in red which
                                                                        connotes blood, death and
         Important information horror.

I used this example of a film poster mainly because like you can see it is known as an ‘action film’ however,
it could also come under the category of horror. This is not only because it in the film fo%ows the codes and
conventions of a horror film due to the death, the tension which is built and suspense etc. Yet the use of the
font used simply on this poster being red and bold is used in a lot of horror film posters. This is because it
connotes blood, death and fear which is accosted to horror.
Bold title, however this
is in white. The use of colours connote happiness
rather than the typical red colour
                                                                  connoting horror through blood and
                                                                                 death.
Informal, jokey ‘save the date’

                  Release Date

I used this film poster for the use of comparison to a horror film poster. As you can see the main
aspects such as the establishing image, tag line, release date and title are used. Yet like mentioned
it used different conventions to put these across. This poster connotes a comedy/happy film due to
the bright colours and jokey informal tag line. Where as the tag line if there is one is in a horror
poster is serious connoting what the narrative of the film is about. Not only this, the overa%
effect doesn’t let off a scared one including the title of the film.

This is because it connotes blood, death and fear which is accosted to horror.
  • 7. Bold title, however this is in white. The use of colours connote happiness rather than the typical red colour connoting horror through blood and death. Informal, jokey ‘save the date’ Release Date I used this film poster for the use of comparison to a horror film poster. As you can see the main aspects such as the establishing image, tag line, release date and title are used. Yet like mentioned it used different conventions to put these across. This poster connotes a comedy/happy film due to the bright colours and jokey informal tag line. Where as the tag line if there is one is in a horror poster is serious connoting what the narrative of the film is about. Not only this, the overa% effect doesn’t let off a scared one including the title of the film.
