courses at multiple institutions. A graduate of Principia
College, Trinity College and Harvard University, Donald L.
Koch began his academic career at Daycroft School, a
Connecticut college preparatory academy that has since
honored him for his professional and philanthropic legacy.
Donald Koch is one of just three Daycroft alumni to receive
the Distinguished Daycrofter Award, an accolade created in
2000 to recognize former students, faculty, and staff
members for their outstanding service to their communities.
In choosing its honorees, Daycroft School strives to identify
Daycrofters who best exemplify its ideals.

3. Donald L. Koch
 Distinguished Daycrofters are those who demonstrate
a dedication to honest achievement; a caring, helpful
spirit; strong character; and an appreciation for the
school’s Christian Science traditions.
Daycroft recognized Mr. Koch for his vast array of
community contributions, from volunteering for his
son’s Boy Scout troop and sponsoring underserved
college students to establishing the Koch Charitable
Foundation. Since the 1990s, the nonprofit has
worked to educate young students on the roots of
democracy and America’s founding documents, and
has organized speaking engagements with public
figures including Henry Kissinger and Colin Powell.

 Donald Koch is clear about the positive impact
Daycroft had on his character and aspirations,
citing the school’s motto, “Perceive then
demonstrate,” as a driving force in his life. He
describes this directive to “think about a good
idea and then go implement it” as “the real
