Siddhartha Gautama was a spiritual teacher from Northern India who lived from 563 to 483 BCE. He founded Buddhism after realizing that suffering is caused by desire and attachment. The path to overcoming suffering involves following the Eightfold Path of right view, intent, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. Siddhartha spread Buddhism and its teachings on the four noble truths until his death at age 80.
