Gale continued…If you would like to browse the different databases that are available they are at the bottom left hand side of the screen.  When highlighted by the mouse a descriptor of the database will appear.These databases have different specialties.  Some are focused on adults, while others on children.
A few you might want to try for yourself…Discovering collection:  creative sources, primary sources, multimedia and reference are available from this database in print or audio (yes, you can now listen in your car on your way home  )General OneFile:  Contains periodical and news information.  You can search by magazine and then a specific issue and it will give you links to the articles in that issue.  I have included a link to an Issue of Macworld, so that the next time Mr. Herrington is talking about his ipad you don’t have to just act like you understand. MacworldOnline Practice Tests (Learning Express library): provides practice tests for SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, TEOFL, ESL, and basic skills for different grade levels. I have linked a test. Reading Diagnostics test grade 6 To use these tests you will have to create a user name and password.
Kid-Friendly databases in GaleThe following databases may help your students find quality, reliable, age-appropriate material.InfoTrac Junior Edition:  Designed especially for Junior High and Middle School students.  Using the advanced search option I searched for Ancient Egypt at a lexile of 800.  I have linked one of the articles for you.  Ancient Egypt ArticleKid InfoBits:  Designed for grades K-5.  It is a much easier format for students to use on their own and articles can be listened to or read.  Linked is a biography of Thomas Alva Edison.
