- 2. Problem: Are databases safe and reliable? Databases are the future for record keeping. From paper files to computer files
- 3. Problem: But what happens then something goes wrong? It is great, it is the future, it can be accessed anywhere
- 4. Here it went wrong: U.S.A.- Veteran Affairs Medical Database Medical records got mixed up
- 5. This resulted in: Patients getting the wrong medicine, dose, or getting the medicine for to long
- 6. This resulted in: This, in some cases, was potentially dangerous
- 7. This resulted in: It wasn’t noticed until many months later because of attentive doctors
- 8. And so people started thinking ...
- 9. Are databases really the future ? Should we really invest and trust so much in them? What if these glitches hurt or kill people? (or even worse)
- 10. Solution: CLOSE monitoring of the databases
- 11. Solution: Investment on making databases more reliable and self sustaining
- 12. Solution: Don’t TRUST them to be 100% right, there might always be a mistake or glitch, and if something seems off, check it..!
- 13. So it’s your choice to use it, but keep in mind that they are not 100% reliable ;)
