To whom it may concern:
My name is Daniel W. Pierce and I am interested in speaking with you about the position you have available. I possess great
communication skills, have a successful history of patient care and family interaction. My diverse skill set would be beneficial for
this position and I would like to discuss this with you.
The medical field has been my home for over twelve years; much of that time has been with patient’s
one on one administering neurodiagnostic tests (EEG and PNCV), then administering psychological and
neuropsychological tests. It was encouraging to be able to take the medical setting experience and
smoothly transition that skill set into the field of psychology and behavioral health.
As an EEG technician I gained experience working with patients and their family members in clinical
office settings and in the stressful and sometimes traumatic hospital setting. The experiences in the
hospital setting have given me wonderful people skills as it was often necessary to diffuse upset
patients and or family members. Crisis control and problem solving have been long time abilities;
however these skills were further developed in the medical office setting. In the present practice, I
performed EEG tests and administered psychological and neuropsychological tests on developm ent ally
challenged adults and children as well as on patients with behavioral disorders.
My recent work at the Epilepsy Institute of North Carolina has included EHR Implementation Project
Manager, IT Administrator, and HIPAA Officer. Presently, along with continuing in these roles, I have
been the lead on our transition to an outside billing company. I serve as the liaison with the billing
company, managing document ation, auditing and reconciliation of accounts. In the various roles I have
been utilized by other staff members seeking instruction and direction as the practice has been
without an office manager for some time.
I enjoy working with people, giving guidance and encourage m e nt, whether they are patients or fellow
employees. Therefore, at this time, I am interested in pursuing a position which allows me the
opportunity to apply my unique background, talents, and skills. Specifically to continue working with
families and individuals confronting major life altering circumstances in hopes of assisting them in
transition through by applying my degree and training in psychology.
Though my experience is diverse and somewhat “scattered”, I have been successful at my positions
due to great organizational, developm ent al, leadership, and communication skills. I am most proud of
being known as a team player and leader, while also being praised for wearing “many hats” to get the
job done and keep the practice functional, efficient and effective. I am exceptionally capable of
providing your organization the level of professionalism and efficiency it needs in this position.
I look forward to hearing from you soon; please contact me at 336- 408- 0016.
Sincerely,
Daniel W. Pierce
