This document discusses emerging air quality (AQ) monitoring technologies and their applications. It defines open data and describes how AQ data from new low-cost sensors could be openly shared. Examples are given of the Air Quality Egg and Cairpol sensors, which could provide real-time AQ data feeds. Challenges include the sensors' reliability and limitations. A proposed core platform would integrate various data sources and outputs like a research workbench, asthma app, and health notifications using location-based AQ data and warnings. Partnerships are needed to develop and test these new technologies and engage communities.
