There is a small pot of funding available (from end of August 2016 to enable a visit to an overseas market. The amount depends on the country visited, e.g. £200 grant for a trip to France or Germany, £500 for a trip to USA. This grant is to assist with gaining an export order and only available to companies who have not exported in the previous 12 months.
Financial support can be provided to companies exhibiting at a number of overseas exhibitions where a UK Trade Association is organising a UK group of companies or a UK Pavilion. This creates a bigger impact than companies exhibiting individually. Info available at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tradeshow-access-programme
OMIS- Overseas Market Information Service incorporating the OBN (Overseas Business Network). Tailored research undertaken by either the UKTI commercial officers overseas or a local chamber of commerce in the target market. Can be used for market information, finding agents, distributors etc. This is a chargeable service but a full quotation is provided against a client brief before any commitment is made.

We have 4 LEADER programmes within the D2N2 area, with £6.53mn of grant available to support growth in the rural economy.
This is in addition to D2N2’s ESIF programme.
Each LEADER programme area has a Private Sector led board called the Local Action Group, which has the final say on which projects are funded.
LEADER provides capital funding for rural businesses and other organisation for projects that support economic growth and job creation.
Each programme team provides Officer time to applicants to guide them through the process, translate jargon into plain English and advise on content of their applications. We don’t write it for the though.
Projects need to fit both the National LEADER priorities and Local objectives set by Local Action Groups.
22 projects contracted with £609k LEADER funding.
50 projects in the pipeline requesting £1.5million of LEADER funding.
Following the green light from DEFRA and the Rural Payments Agency, LEADER is Open for Business. And open for new applications.
LEADER can fund Rural micro & small enterprises from all sectors not just agriculture.
So here’s a photo of a Robotic milking machine and owners Chris and Amie Lovatt
They are 3rd generation farmers who have taken over the family farm and moved from beef to dairy.
Received £39,040 to purchase the robotic milking machine, this has enabled them to take advantage of a contract from Tesco and Amie is studying on the Tesco Future Farmers Foundation Course as a result of the investment.
I think this one encapsulates LEADER – future generations working in the rural areas taking advantage of working with major supply chains.
